    Default Inexpensive UL-1 Motor replacement?

Hi guys. I have a friend that wants to get into RC boats which is great since I run mine alone. He is out of work right now so money is real tight. I gave him my old UL-1 complete, but I have the motor and speed control in another hull that I am keeping. So I am hoping you guys can recommend a motor and speed control that will be close to the stock motor performance but as cheap as possible. I have seen lots of affordable stuff from china but I do not know enough about brushless motor specs to get the right one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Mike

Here is an option. Very close to stock specs. It will bolt right in. http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...ess_Motor.html

Compare the reviews with above and this http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...90mm_EDF_.html

If you like this forum and would like to support OSE This is a great replacement http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...p?prod=tp-3630

All these motor suggestions keep you around the same actual KV of a UL-1 motor that is at best 1950kv

That blue motor looks exciting for 38 bucks but read about magnets coming apart and motor burning up, etc. The sk3 is well made and magnets aren't screwed into place. Besides, the Blue one is on BO.

Least expensive esc and biggest band for the buck is this: http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...C_4A_UBEC.html

You can most likely get away with the 90amp version that is less $$ but, if you have the room (check size!) The 120 will last a long time. I run mine with a UL1 motor in my PTSS limited sport hydro. The program card is $7.
I think these are all available from USA warehouse but you'll have to check.

Thanks guys. Much appreciated! That's exactly what I needed. Now I have some options to show him and some suggestions. I thought stock performance would be fine for a first time boater. Maybe more then enough.
