    Default 24 volt power supply

Does anyone know of a rock solid 24v supply? I mean that can deliver 75+ amps reliably?

I have the kind made of two pc supplies wired in series from two suppliers and they can't hang. Fail. Glad I kept my Rivergates. Always work every time but I have to drop down to nothing for charge rates. When you're charging 8 boats per round it's taxing.

Is there anything out there that is truly designed to push 24 volts under load?

The Revo looks good but still only 55amps.

What about the BullDog Power Supplies. http://www.rivergatedist.com/bulldog_90.htm
I have the ddc-75amp 12-14v....The only limiting factor is my Invertor/Generator. I am going to upgrade that to this:

Terry...talk to Robert (LiPo Power) ...he sells some really good HV power supplies.

He could probably deliver it to the Can Am.

John, that's one of the failed supplies.

I have two bulldogs. Great for 12 volts. Super reliable. Of you want some big power they can't keep up at only 12 volts.

I remember Pete Steinke had a nice power supply he used to charge directly to hid Dewalt A123s at 30 amps. It had separate voltage and current adjustment. Like a 50v 50amp or more lab type PS...

    Just found this... http://www.trcelectronics.com/View/M...-2400-24.shtml

    That requires 240 Volt input
That would need a big generator to supply it.

Here is one that only needs 120Volt input.

I use Mean Well and Lambda power supplies for my charging. Mean Well are great middle grade power supplies, but are not cheap for the hobbyist compared to the recycled server power supplies.

Here is the one I use for 24V charging: https://www.alliedelec.com/mean-well...0-24/70069586/

Great power supply if you are willing to invest in quality.
If you need more than 60A, I would suggest you get two smaller ones.
Unless you have a 220V plug on your generator and you better if you are trying to charge over 2000W.
Here is the 80A@24V power supply: https://www.alliedelec.com/mean-well...0-24/70231561/

Both of those units you mentioned above, require 200 volt input.

TYLER. What is a good power supply for 120vac input and 24v output?

This MIGHT (???) work for you Terry. Not a bad price at $135. Maybe run 2 of these?

I personally just switched over to this 12v supply. I'm very pleased.
Just thought I'd share for those that don't need as much power as Terry is looking for.

Those are both Server Power supplies also.
Terry already tried them, with NO luck.
I know that I have been running the 24V-75A HP supplies for a few years with No problems at all.

There are the 24 volt Meanwell's but still only 63 amps.

I use two of the 42 amp versions for my PL8's.

Howard and Larry, the Mean Well RSP-1500-24 is one of the best power supplies and is available with 120V input. Pescador has a link to Progressive RC’s site.

Why not this one? Seems to be the same with plugs already attached? http://www.progressiverc.com/charger...er-supply.html

Mainly a difference in quality. The Mean Well is an industrial grade power supply. It’s built better and will outlast the other.

I would not try using another charger as a power supply. This is asking for trouble.

Could this possibly be Terry's problem? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grou..._(electricity)

R2 builds cases and in some situations ran into ground loop issues. Kinda fries things sometimes.

    Holy smokes. A 2015 thread.

I never did come up with a 24 volt power supply. Still using the bulldogs. Old school. Works every time and I don't have to think about it.

Something else to watch for. The iCharger! Nice charger but pay attention. The charger has a regenerative option. You can turn it off but it doesn't care that you turned it off. It does it anyway. When charging/balancing two packs together, if one is higher it will discharge the higher pack. It takes power and feeds it back to the power supply. This might be fine if it was running from a battery. The voltage increases until it fries your power supply. Took 3 supplies to figure this out. I would go to my charger looking to check the status only to find it dead. "Did we lose power?" Super convenient on race day.

The bulldog has protection built in so you only lose that charge cycle. It just resets but the supplies that come from computers.....baked.

Lol I’ve got a Rivergate Bulldog from the 90’s that’s still going strong.
