had same problem with a tp motor in a mcd v4, spun its shaft in the rotar, don't know if grub screws had sheared but there wasn't much of a flat spot on either end of shaft, tp replacing foc, they told me they now use a different glue so problem shouldn't happen again, to be fair to tp they were very good with their after sales service, so good ive ordered another tp motor off them

Got my TP motor back and installed.

I have a question about my TP motor Timing

    here are the Parameters:

    T: 3Y

    KV: 1720

    Max Amps (A): 213

    Max Volt (V): 29

    Continuous Power (W): 3050

    Max Power (W): 6200

    Max RPM: 50 K

    Rm (Ohm): 0.0095

    No-load Current (A): 3.8

    Shaft Diameter (mm): 5

    Diameter X Length (mm): 39.5 X 90

    Weight: 455 g

    Pole: 4-pole

What would be the optimal timing for this motor

My Leopard 180a esc timing offers:

    1 - 0.00

    2 - 3.75

    3 - 7.50

    4 - 11.25

    5 - 15.00 (default timing)

    6 - 18.75

    7 - 22.50

    8 - 26.25

I have been running default timing.

Your motor being a y wind 10-15 degrees, the default setting will be ok.

What prop are you using on that 4060? It is a 1720kv correct?

Recommend removing shipping information on previous posts for obvious reasons. No reason to advertise.

Please also check your strut. If you find that there is excessive heat there, it could be binding. It may not be apparent by spinning the driveline by hand or testing on the bench, but once under load in the water, it could be generating too much heat. I always try to check at the conclusion of each run. I've only found the issue on one run out of the past 300 or so. It may be rare on my setups, but it is always good to check things to avoid other issues down the line.

Another thing that hasn't been mentioned is whether or not the motor ran hot previously. The extra heat previously could have compromised the motor and the failure wasn't triggered until a possible quick deceleration or similar such as a crash.

Just a few things to think about for the future, regardless of what motor you employ.
