Default Legg Lake SAW Event Dates and Details March 20-22nd and Nov 13-15th 2015

The Amigos are hosting two SAW events in 2015. One 3 day event March 20-22nd and a 3-day SAW event November 13th-15th at Legg Lake in South El Monte. We are anticipating an international gathering of a selection of the fastest radio control model boats. We encourage all to participate or just come out and watch some of the fastest model boats worldwide.

    https://www.google.c...78657a5d140fedf

We ask all contestants to pre-register with Mark Grim so we can get a head count particularly for food. Kim Grim will be serving up her 5 star BBQ several of the days and its reason enough to come even if you dont run.

The event is open to all NAMBA legal classes Nitro, Gas and Electric. NAMBA membership and proof of current standing is required so please bring your card. Single event coverage is available onsite.

Due to its size and expected high speeds we are adding several specific rules to the event. Please see the attached PDF for additional rules.

I plan on being there for the November dates. This year, maybe all five days.

I remember the days not too long ago when an upcoming SAW event was fun news...

Not a peep around here these days...

Added a little insurance to my P-LTD OPC entry to prevent donating another lower unit to the bottom of Legg Lake...

You want the mount to do it's job and break away... but you'd prefer not to have the lower then sink!

Well Darin, it is so easy to go 100+ mph these days (just check all the posts on OSE etc.) that folks just go to their local pond to see their buddies make pass after pass over 100 mph.....

I'm going to try to show up on Sunday. Hope you are all going to be there. I'm going to try to take a lot of pics and post them on OSE for all members to view and enjoy.

Martin Truex, Jr broke the A-Hydro record early this morning on the first runs of the day.

I did a pair of 59 mph passes with my P-LTD OPC Dragon... then propped up and did a 73mph pass... wind has picked up a bit so now waiting to see if I can manage something close to a pair of those passes!

An update, we are reducing the November SAW from 5-days to 3-days as the European racers will not be able to join us.
We are considering making the March 2016 event a 5-day.

I contacted the racers who have come in the previous years and none mentioned they would be able to make it.

After twenty or so SAWs in a row since 2006 and many record badges, I decided for the November '15 event to simply hang out, support/annoy everyone and consume massive amounts of donuts. Then Tyler made me an offer I couldn't refuse on his multiple record holding P-Mono. Like Jack Nicholson said in As Good As It Gets : "I was This Close to making a Clean Getaway"

Now converted to P-Ltd Mono to up my current record, Here we go AGAIN :

I've never attended a SAW event before but I do plan on it this year.

Though... One of the things I'm sort of uncertain about is... assuming that alot of the people in attendence will be flying there-- how do they travel with their lipo packs / chargers and more importantly... boats?
Do they usually just purchase them locally, or does the event provide an option to borrow/buy them?

I think it's getting close to time for a dedicated November 13-15th NAMBA SAW Sticky thread, eh?? :)

I'm dragging Brian down with me this time, after a couple of event absence from SAWs... This may be cool! :)
