    Default Project HPR 233

    Hi Guys

This is a bulding Report of my Bigboat Project for 2015.

Boat is a HPR 233 with electric setup.

First step is showing the Hull.

The Hull is one oft the first 233 which was made by Hans Peter Rotschi.
I think it is about 10 years old.
But the hull is nearly new.
Only some motormounts are installed and some holes are made in the top of the boat.
Material of the hull is GFK with some sandwich material in the front.
I will make the boat inside complete new and make is stronger.
i will show you my work on this boat step by step.

i hope you enjoy the building report

so here some pictures of the hull.

in the next days it goes on with the building

    bye

All your toys are awesome. Everything is extra large scale. So, does this mean you'll have a pair of 233 cats?

    Hello

so here are the first works on the Hull.

I took out the old Motormounts and the sandwich material in front of the boat.
After this i closed the gaps in the rear end of the boat inside, betwenn the tunnel an the left and right side.
For closing i used a lightweigt putty.
I closed the gaps so that i can lay the fabric over easier in the rear end.
After this work the commplete hull was grind and cleaned inside that later the fabric makes a good connection with the hull.

    so here some pictures

The great thing about working on your hull is there's ample room inside. The bad is there's so much sanding to do. Keep up the progress! Any thoughts on color/paint scheme?

    Here the next working steps

After cleaning the hull i streghen the seam with a carbon ribbon.
The Ribbon runs complete from the front to the rear end of the boat.
After this i glue 2mm Sandwich material on the tunnel and 3mm sandwich in the upper Deck.

Looks great! How did you reach all the way to the end with that cf ribbon? What tool did you use to stick it to the hull inside of the tips? I'm guessing the hull is so big it's easy to reach, I wonder what I could use for small hulls to do the same thing...

It is not so easy to make such a work.
My hull is very large. There is many place inside.
But my arms are not long enough
For such a work i use very long paintbrushs or a teflon roller

I'm really looking forward to see this come together. I've never seen these motors before, all the more exciting! What type of sandwich material was used on the deck and tunnel?

Very cool mudl. It will be interesting to see how the Torqstar motors perform in the 233.
Where did you get the collets? These are 12mm shaft, correct?

I was thinking the same thing Keith. The collets do look like the LMT ones though. Maybe they were modified or the 7025 were supplied with 10mm output shaft?

    Hi so work goes on

Next step is to laminate the Hull
For Laminating i used Carbon/Aramid Fabric 215 g/m² and Resin L with Hardener PH 161.This Maretials are all from R&G Germany.
First i layed the fabric on the Tunnel.
    This takes several hours .
After this i made the upper side.
    This work was very hard.
I had the resin all over my arms and also in the hairs

    So next step.
After the hull is laminated in the front i made the rest sandwich material on the tunnel.
Next work was to lay the fabric in the back on the downside.
After this i closed the holes at the rear end with 1,5mm carbon plates.
First i fixed the plates with superglue and than i lay the carbon/aramid fabric over it.
Last work was to lay the biggest piece of fabric in the middle of the boat.
The size of the piece was 100 to 120 zentimeters.

    Hello

to make it complete is the next step to reinforce the cover.
First i closes the hole where normaly the air scoop is mounted.
For this i take a 1,5mm Carbon plate.
    I fixed it with superglue.
After this i grind the cover insiede.
I reinforce the cover with the same fabric as the hull.
After the fabric is hardend i cut of the ride out fabric

    Hi

next step is building the air scoop.

For building i got from my friend(who also builts a HPR 233) the original air scoop.
From this part i made for me a silicone mold.
This mold i filled up with epoxy.
After a few hours i take the scoop out of the mold.
It looks very good but the weight was to high.
So i decide to grind out the innside of the scoop.
Now the weigt of the scoop was reduced from 350 gramm to 120 gramm.
After this i glued inside a bolt for fasten the air scoop on the cover.
Than i fileld the sccop inside with 2K Foam from R&G

    Air scoop ready

    Hi Guys

next parts are the premenilary Motor mounts.

First i cut it out from a cardboard. This is very easy.

After this i transfer the cardboard template on a 6mm wood panel.
I cut out the two motor panels and i grind it that it match exactly in the hull.
For getting the right screw holes to fasten the motors on the panels a good Friend(Flo,he was at the last SAW in LA)
makes me a drill Template of aluminium.
After this the motors take first time a seat in the hull.

    greetings from germany

    mudl

Can you put the motors next to a soda/beer can so we can compare how big they are? They look pretty big/fat compared to a 3080.
