What? That's a perfect match for that size hull.

Edit: Sport, but why does that matter? I'm in the military so I move around a lot (every 3-4 years). If I moved to an area that had racing, I would like to try racing. I'm not familiar with all of the racing classes and rules. Would a castle 1515 prevent me from racing? Just wondering why the application is important.
    Thanks

Always the application is very important but if you intend to race it then it is better to make it race capable.

Edit: Why is it important, fast is fast right?

    Not exactly.
Racing boats have specific set up to be competitive.
Sport boats may have whatever set up they came up with.

OK, Thanks, I suppose I simply don't know what you mean. Fast is fast right? Whether racing or not.

I like to do whatever I like, luckily I found a loophole: DON"T RACE!!! So I use whatever motor I want ( within reasonable limits, of course).
So, for sport boating, you have much more freedom to choose whatever that will bring a smile to you. There is not one motor that has been recommended to you that won't work. You have to know your wallet and what brings a sense of satisfaction to you when you look into the hull and see that motor....

BTW, I love that pic. of Eastwood.

    Hi OP,
your title suggests that you weren't considering any race sanctioned motors for the P -class most likely you will be racing under should you choose to participate in such an event.
SO my take is that all the suggestions to you have been based on this assumption.

Hi all, I was being overly defensive a couple posts back, that's my bad. I thank you all for all of your suggestions thus far.

    Hi again,
I read your build thread a bit, pardon me for being so dense: I don't get it, are you using a new hull or are you removing the old innards from this hull. You have the Acua Craft 1800kv motor, right? That is a race sanctioned motor although would not be as fast as all the motors that have been suggested. So, if I were you, I keep that motor, don't sell it, and use it if you want to race your boat at a local club.
This will give you a free hand to choose on the motors mentioned above.

Here again I mention a revolt it being 30in is about the same size in length not sure about width haven't really looked in comparison but I have had 6 different motors in it and I liked the way it drove/road on the water with the 3674 than the bigger heavier motors. That is just an opinion of mine but like I said its not my boat.

How much weight difference is there between a 3674 and a 4074?
    I highly doubt it's much

OK, I have taken the pictures now that the "coast is clear" at my house, Gee, i have so many motors that I must be sick!

To the best of my ability to measure, it works out to almost 1mm, I would say .8mm, that is .033"
I checked with my other new green can, while there is a faint 'knock" if you yank the rotor in and out, but there is no real distance you can see from the front shaft where i marked it against the bearing with a marker.
    So, my original observation stands.

3674 is 315g, 4074 is 375g, but rated for another 500 Watts. IMO they're both good choices, but I'd pick the 4074 personally.
