    Default Trying 6s and props

Been doing some research about this question but found no definitive answer. I have a hornet f1. Basically only the hull is a hornet. Everything else was stripped. I added a 3650 2990kv 6d
On a os leg and a swordfish pro120a esc. I'm using 3s 4500mah 30-40c discharge batteries, the question is can I use 2 3s batteries in parallel to run the set up on 6s safely? Also I'm running a oct x438 prop, it's quick but I want it quicker. The temps are luke warm using it. What recommendation would be for the next few sizes to try to get where I want to be.

Hey Zen, firstly, If you run 2 3s packs in parallel you wont increase voltage, just mah and runtime. If you run them in series you will increase voltage to 6s and mah stays the same. i would not RUN THAT MOTOR ON 6S. You may be able to simply run a prop with more total pitch like an Octura x440 or an x637

Ok thanks. I'll take your advise. I'll try a new prop.

Dont know why you want 6s in that thin hulled boat, but if so I would recommend this motor:

Who knows, maybe the extra weight will make it run more stable.

I'm using 3s now. And 6s would not be safe. How bout 4s. Will proformance gains be increased?

    Zen.
Even on 4s it will be turning at over 44,000 revs. Way too much in my opinion.

Here's a good chart to help you find the right kv motors for the different voltages. The lower end of the ranges for sport boating & the higher end for racing. But around the middle is a good all round set up.
