    Default Motor Questions Please Help

    Miss Geico 29

Here's my current setup geico29 , stock 1500 motor, 180a esc, 2 5s 5000mah 40/80c parallel, foam filled nose, blueprinted bottom, offset rudder x442 & x642 s/b and detounged. Running 45/46 mph on garmin gps. Heavy boat.. My question is I need to know what leopard motor to choose with my batteries as I have two sets 5s 5000mah 40/80c and 50/100c . Looking for more speed and not sure which to choose, Leopard 4074/4082 , 1800/2000kv and also good prop choice.

Thanks for any info on the subject.

This was a good advice. https://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...174#post588174
4082 is over kill although it will work. Running 5s you don't want the kv near 2000.

You are welcome, and by the way, start with the x442 and bring it in after one minute to check your temp.

So I guess I should go with the 4074/1800kv Leo ,What do you think about the x440/3 to small? or the cnc prop choices? Just want to make sure I have everything so I only have to order once. Those batteries and the foam filled front make it pretty heavy.

the 2 props you have are fine. start with the x442
and check temps as tim said. if your temps are ok
the x642 should be a great prop. that's what I run
    on my MG29.

If you are wanting a higher top speed, why not run 1p. Yes the run time will be less, but without the extra weight you should go faster. The pb 1500 motor is good for heat racing on a 5000mah packs even with a 642.

Put 1 battery sideways in front of the motor or just one in a sponson ?

I personally find it difficult to put the batt. in front of the motor, not enough room in that boat and you may not be able to get correct COG. As you have realized, if only one sponson has the batt. that is not a balanced boat on the water.
I run 4s2p in that boat and yes, it is heavy. it would be lighter to run 4s1p, meaning two 2s on each side, but you run 5s, only way is to use 2s+3s and put the heavier batt. on the portside to counter the torque.
BUT, IMO, that is much ado about nothing.

"D" wind motor needs low timing. 0-4 usually. I have set the Seaking 180 A ESC at "0" and sometimes at " 3.75" . You should start at 0 just to be safe.
