Default Has anyone mounted the rudder on the left of the strut?

    Hey Guys,

I am upgrading my rudder to a 5 inc off set and it would be a much cleaner install if I could mount it to the left of the strut?? Has anyone done this? Is there any disadvantages? Will it work? I have set the servo to reverse(invert) and it seems like everything should be fine. Just wanted to make sure before drilling

    Thanks for any info

I would look at every image you can find of RC boats for your answer. You may not even need to know why, but try to find an image of an RC boat with the rudder on the left.

I found two things in a quick search: for right turn racing, some will put the rudder on the left so that the pushrod is in tension, rather than it deflecting in compression...and in hydro's some do a left rudder to balance the single turn fin.
