    Default Problems with duratrax VR3

Hi! Is my first post in this forum, and first of all, sorry about my poor english, because I'm from Mallorca Spain. I recently buy two Mini Rio, and first thing we made was to change the stock motor to a Duratrax VR3, using stock electronics. Also we use 2S lipos 1200 mAh, but until we change the motor, we broke the electronics in the two boats. At the begining, one of the boat went faster than the stock, but we lose range of the transmitter or reciever (I don't know why). I dump for two times, but the last I lose the control of the trottle, and all the electronics inside begin to burn, and the wires was fries(no water inside). At the end we don't lose the boat.

The other boat with same motor and electronics, but without lipos, lose all of the range of the receiver, and only run with the antenna of the transmitter very near (about one feet) from the receiver, and it was impossible to run.

Now, for no lose all the money we pay, we are thinking to change all the electronics, and run with the VR3 motor. What do you thing about this parts? I think is better an FM transmitter than a AM transmitter, then:

I have a question of the receiver: Can the receiver of this pack run with the same battery (2s or 3s) voltage 7.2V or 11.1V?
Or I need this other tthing?

    Thank you for the answers!

This esc is very large, it does have a bec, but no low voltage cutoff for lipo. I would maybe suggest a smaller car esc. I'm not sure on exactly which one. The radio is fine.

Default The original ESC of duratrax VR3

Thanks for the quick answer. I saw in internet that this motor duratrax vr3, is the original motor of the car Vendetta st, and it goes with a very big ESC of 75 amp, look:

    http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXRAJ1&P=7

Then, I think an speed control of 40 Amp would can run with this motor.

Otherwise, I saw the speed control I'm interested in, is for a 550 motor, very big, but I can't understand why the duratrax can run with 75 Amp.

    Any idea?

    Many thanks!

I saw the problem is there no place to put inside the hull. Do you thing this speed control can run good on this motor?:

    It seems smaller.

    Thank you very much!

I just finished looking for info on the motor and found nothing. If you can post some info on the motor we might be able to help you a little more.

This motor is a high revolution 380 motor. Is the original motor of a car, a Duratrax Vendetta st:

    http://www.duratrax.com/cars/dtxd14-...d14-radio.html

And the original ESC can manage a lot of amps, 75 Ahm:

I think the original ESC is too much for the boat and batteries. Then I thing the better ESC for the motor and boat would be this:

For a controlable boat, and long time run.

    Thanks for the help!

I have had no problems with vr3,2S lipos and stock esc/rx combo. -using piano drive, the stock cable could pull too many amps.

-3S did kill it -the esc/tx , servo and hull -it is on my pile of fixable hulls atm.

    this is with 2s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjU-j2hdqGg

Now i have tamiya teu 101bk esc and futaba tx on board. -i think that any 540 esc will work, the 380 cant be that amp hungry.

-edit. ferreret, i just looked my youtube account, and you asked me something there, i just replyed.
