    Default 10th scale modern

so........ah? If one was going to build a 10th scale modern, what runs well?

We messed with some vintage a couple years ago and they don't all translate well to FE. I know the moderns will be the same way. A twin wing T Plus for instance isn't likely to have enough hp on a limited motor for the vents. UNless it only weighs a few ounces maybe.

Todd's Lobster runs pretty well but what a gob of work that took to figure out.

So who has tried what? Spill it please.

Curious as to what you were disapointed in with the vintage boat's?

I should have said. Fred built a Notre Dam. It was the third we had done but the first at 1/10. I did the cowl for it. Came out pretty nice. Ran pretty good too. Took it to the nats and saw a discrepancy in between each of the boats. Some were really fast. Can't remember exactly which boats were which.

10th has never really been on my radar. My son was bugging me right after the nats about building one.

.....oh, for him of course. Him being my little hostage negotiator.

He gets all upset if his boat is slow. It's kind of comical to me. He yelled at me for making him hit a buoy at the 09 nats.

you can easily be doing 50 on a modern boat with a spec setup. The vintage boats I think the Karelsen designed hulls are the best for performance (of the vintage hulls) which is probably what the Notre Dame was especially if it was built with Gary F plans. Same hull design as my Bardahl.

I know Craig and he make very good hulls in carbon fiber. That said I would go with one of Mike's laser cut kits as I like to build them. i like making sawdust and I am toying with the idea of building another 1/10th and getting back into racing next year

I like the turbine boats. I like making saw dust too. I'll have to stew on it some.

Are there any plans to update the motor spec? I don't think you can buy those old blue AQ motors anymore.

Yeah, Ray pointed that out to me too. I actually found one in my box of prehistoric stuff. Hasn't been in a boat since 2009.

Ray, I bought a frame kit from ML for the 8255. Plan is to teach my 15yo son to actually build a boat instead of just pulling the trigger. Hopefully he wont glue himself.......to..........himself like his old man.

I would actually pay to watch one of you two glue yourself to yourself.

How does the aqua blue compare to the proboat motor 1500, is it legal for racing in the namba class, and what's the difference between the two? Thanks!!!

it is legal in namba..the newer version of the proboat(dynamite) motor seems to be a little better,,but they aren't produced anymore..but can still be found..also the himax motor is pretty good

I know Craig personally for a few years now and the site is just fine. What antivirus are you using?

So do these hulls have to be 'registered' with some one so there aren't 5 of the same boat running in a heat at the same time?
