Default Motley crew flex shaft length?

Loose collet, lost the shaft. Ordered a new aquacraft replacement, even has motley on the package. Looks to be about 5/8 too short? Measures 14 3/8 end to end, with the dog on it end does not touch the collet. Any ideas?

    That seems too short...
To make it work can you slide down the drive dog a bit (may need to cut a new flat spot for the set screw)?
In the future, buy a high quality flex shaft from OSE store-- the AQ ones are just not that good...
If the drop-in replacement shafts on OSE are out of stock, buy a .150 cable with the prop shaft attached and cut it to size with a dremel.

Ordered 2 from the OSE store, cut to length. aquacraft tech was helpful, sent a replacement without any hassle, guess i will keep a couple spares. Length should have been 15 inches, they confirmed.

I just ordered a new OSE flexshaft from the OSE shop and discovered that the flexshaft lengths are not the same for the Motley Crew and Lucas Oil. OSE sells the Motley Crew flexshaft as 14 11/16" tip to tip, whereas the Lucas Oil is 14 3/4" from tip to tip. Its only 1/16" in it in the end but will it make a difference?
