Well, so it begins. I was thinking of maybe calling it Hellcat.

So it's 27" or so? Nice!
Nortavlag Bulc
29 as is but it gets some overhang.
Are you and Ty building boats on the kitchen floor because that is the last of the unconsumed space with boat stuff?
Later,
Mike
Bahaha. My wife is a saint.
It's the best lighting. My shop looks like a bomb went off.
Most of our Wives are Saint's you got that right.
How much for a kit?
Do It Like You Mean It .....or Don't Bother
No kit. That's a one off stick built that's a mix of a half dozen boats I've owned over the years.
I'll take it to Phoenix. If it works I'll ask TFL to mold it.
Cool Thanks
Hey T.S.
I have an old North Wind .40 made by Steve Muck 1972 NAMBA Mono record holder. I have been trying to save it as the first person that started working on it Jacked it all up. I have managed to add way too much weight to it fixing the problems. If you could tell me how to make a mold of the top and bottom or a site to go to I will try it.
It did run with a K&B .40 but I have it all setup for a Revolt motor, esc, drive shaft length 4s with room for two 4s batteries. If I could get a new hull out of this one I would like to put one of Mick's Jet pumps in it.

Well, there are a number of video sources available.
www.freemansupply.com
I think http://c www.fibreglast.com/ has a video library.
There's always youtube too.
Making molds is a pain in the butt. At least for me it is. Some guys really dig it.
The more you know about the mold process while you are designing something the easier it is to mold later. Negative release angles make the process harder than it needs to be. You have to consider where your parting lines will be while you're building. Those parting lines need to have a parting gate built to them for the first part of the mold to be built on. That produces the flange where the two parts are sandwiched together.
Head hurt yet? Some guys find the process very satisfying. The last time I needed a mold I paid to have it done. Paid too much too. For only a few parts it's not as bad. I'll still tackle molding a canopy but the whole hull......hate it.

Thought of a better name.
Vector Cat.
The definition of vector:
1. Mathematics/Physics - a quantity having direction as well as magnitude, esp. as determining the position of one point in space relative to another.
Mathematics - a matrix with one row or one column.
a course to be taken by an aircraft.
Computing - denoting a type of graphical representation using straight lines to construct the outlines of objects.
2. an organism, typically a biting insect or tick, that transmits a disease or parasite from one animal or plant to another.
I figure since my wife thinks of these RC boats as a disease the last definition might be right in line. If it works I can transfer the RC boat parasite from me into new hosts.

This build has been the hardest I've tackled thus far. Cutting the curves for the nose was a PIA. Event the strakes are curved cuts. ack

Wow, that's some intricate stuff. Any ideas for the cowl yet? Who did you have cut those? I was thinking about getting some laser cutting done, but then I found this....

Stop it. I cut all those pieces myself. Remember me telling you that I drew all those pieces in 2D? Dat be them.

Pete, the deck is going to look like this:

A little Lambo edge to it.
Vector makes sense now doesn't it?

Cool stuff Terry.
Woah! That thing is gonna be beautiful! What color?
Ummmm....wood colored. Maybe I'll magic marker some of the flat surfaces. It will look different than anything else that's out there for sure. It will appeal to some I suppose and not to others. Many prefer the scale....ish look of a Geico, MC, Lucas. This one is about doing laps more than anything.
I don't really care about finish right now. It's all about the design. It either works or it doesn't. If it doesn't it's firewood.

terry-if it don't work- use it for a turn bouy and i'll be the first one to take it out!
....or you could float it about 4ft into that culvert pipe, either way, it's gonna get hit.
Viking funeral.

i'm in for the funeral. everyone just show up with a boat that they can't stand and the funeral party is on. but first the culvert thing has to happen! wide open throttle.

Just wanted something different. It definitely will not appeal to everyone.

Your wood boats are like little works of art, similar to Ed Hughey's boats back in '05 or '06.
Nortavlag Bulc
Ray, I think you may have taken two many of one of your meds. I appreciate the compliment. That may be the kindest ever. Having mine even compared to Eds' is an honor. Ed has forgotten more than I'll likely learn about wood boats.
Eds' boats seemed to me like more than works of art. More like a feats of engineering. I'm not sure he even realized how in awe some of us were with his builds. Wood was just the easiest route for him to get where he wanted to go. Watching him hang with the big dogs with his brushed motors and gear drives was unreal. Makes you wonder what he could have done with the combos the big dogs were running. It was like boys racing against a man. They could beat him sure but it took raw dollars to do it.
Some of Reesors boats were like that too. Where you just wanted to stare at them. "No no no, don't put it in the water yet. I'm still looking"

Stealth cat!
