Thx Paul I will certainly give that a try. Also going to try 2 of the 5S packs in parallel. Yes that is where I first saw this boat hull for sale and got me wanting to buy one. My original Popeye was chomped by gator and hit a few docks so was definitely time for a new hull. Jeff

    Jeff,
Really looks great! Very clean build!
Mind if I ask what type of tube did you use as stuffing tube?

looks good jeff...didn't rain on me yesterday in Valrico but darn close lol...nice that u put the motor so far forward now u can balance it right.....I ran mine in 20 mph wind and 4 to 5 inch chop at a race in dallas a few weeks ago...got waxed buy 3 guys from Houston that had set ups for rough windy weather,,,kine was always run in flat water...they couldn't pass me on straight but I could not keep the wet side down in corners....

Yes Ron got first run in Monday, got in about 4 laps but then my flex shaft unwound on me and mangled up brass collet insert so waiting on new ones from OSE. Noticed it was a little frayed on tip when I installed it. Tried to solder the tip but obviously unsuccessfully....lol. My motor is almost 1 1/2 inches further forward then it was in my first Popeye but seems to have correct COG. I'm using a custom turn fin that I bought on here from Randy at BBY. It's longer than the UL1 turn fin I had on my other Popeye so anxious to see how it turns with it. Going to order that Kintec one as a back up tho. Jeff

I have been running my Popeye on the Y547 since first day. The max GPS reading I've gotten was 54mph on 4S. I'm now using the Castle 1515 2200kv on 5S. Can someone offer a diff prop they've run on their Popeye with success? Thx Jeff

Not sure now what size you guys are suggesting. What about this prop from OSE?

    Product ID: octsb-x646/3
    Octura x646/3 Sharpened & Balanced
    In Stock: 2

    Diameter: 1.81" (46mm)
    Total Pitch: 1.6x1.81=2.896"
    Shaft Size: 3/16"

This propeller is sharpened, balanced and thinned to increase performance over a raw or poorly prepared propeller.

Click here for more help in deciding which prop is best.

Because of the time & labor required to balance these, they are often out of stock. We suggest clicking the "add watch" button, when the item comes back instock you will receive an email.

I'MO the 1.6 pitch with 46mm is pretty aggressive, I may be wrong, but you are on 5s spiining a 2200kv... just saying

I try and always use my trusty Graupner 'K" props to try and establish a safe baseline for heat vs run time vs handling.

They are inexpensive and you don't have to really do anything to them but bolt them on and run. Personally if I were running a 2200kv motor on 5S, (40ish thousand rpm unloaded) I would start with a K45. Run for about a minute and bring it in and make sure everything is happy. My best settings on both my p spec and p sport are with the strut set so high that its almost touching the bottom of the hull. It seems to air the boat out nicely. (I modded the strut to allow for extra adjustment).

Right now on my p sport, I'm getting decent speed and temps with a K51....seems to run easier on the electronics than the 3 bladed 50mm CNC prop.

Thx Doby. Just did a Google search and can not see where to purchase the Graupner K 45. Do you have a link to them? Also are they carbon fiber? Jeff
