Question Best Lipos for the buck ??

Ok, I keep reading about price vs performance on lipos all over the web..
and I also know if I don't finish the race it really does not matter the packs used
so to those here at OSE who race and run their packs hard, what is the best lipo packs for the buck??
I'm looking at possibly trying the TP G8 Pro Force 70C packs
    using in P class racing

I have had great success with ThunderPower 65C and Hyperion 45C packs since I switched to LiPos some years ago. I have a set of Hyperion 4S/5000 packs which are on their third racing season and they are still very strong. I've set SAW records with both brands. I am giving Dinogys a try this season in a new boat. I have also heard great things about GrimRacer packs from top racers whom I trust.

I use Thunder Power, which have been fantastic, but have also seen great things from the GrimRacer packs, and also more recently from the Dinogy packs that Mark F. sells.... Both are very reasonably priced...

4S1P with 6400 mAh cells should be plenty for almost any oval racing. In the past we needed 2P and 5000 mAh cells to stand the drain of 150-200 amps for 2 minutes, but with modern high-C cells few will need more than 6400 mAh to be safe. I don't see many competitive boat using more than 5000 mAh in a 6-lap race with mill. 1P saves weight and cost. I haven't built a 2P race boat in several years, just 1P.

I burn up about 4500mah in my PMono so the size would be good for 4s1p

The 12C charge rate of the G8s means a lot to many small airplane and chopper guys. They may run 850mAh packs, so charging at 12C is 'just' 10 amps. Lets them fly all day on two packs. Yeah, it means little to us...

I think in the end we all have a favourite battery brand, size and discharge rate. The critical thing is making your system perform under those conditions. I know how my battery perfoms and set up the boat to suit that. I believe it is not so much best battery for your buck but best whole system for your buck. Just my opion of course and it is under the influence of pre-easter drinks. I think I just saw a 6ft white rabbit. We breed em big down under.

    Just got this from them
"I will hold it on any of the g6 thunder power I have left. The poly rc stuff i will do even better. The best i can do on g8 stuff is 20% off though"

Email him and ask, his name is Robert. sales@purehobby.com

BTW, I do use Dinogy as well and they have performed and held up just as well as the TP packs.

    Cool

    Now 100c?????? .....and 120c??????
With no way for the consumer to verify the claims, the sky's the limit on published specs. We saw this for years with nickel cell vendors. This has become typical behavior for many of today's vendors selling cheap batteries, ESCs and motors. The vendors linked above seems to want it both ways. Continuous discharge of 700 amps (that's 30 seconds on a 7000 mAh pack) - who believes that?

I have 16 2S 5000 or 5500 35C hyperion packs, most are over 3 years old now-- they have been flawless.

I tried some less expensive packs once, but the DOA and early failure rates really put me off...
