    Default 1st attempt at thinning/blueprinting

I have a background in high-performance (1:1)outboard boats, so I already have some knowledge in prop physics I can apply to the RC world. I just got a new PB Blackjack 29, and a stock extra prop. I decided to work my spare prop a bit... I removed most of the casting flaws, thinned the blades a bit, and squared the trailing edge. I ordered a balancer to finish the job right. . So far, it's at 8 grams, a quarter-gram lighter than my stock prop.

Here's the stock prop for the "before"...

    And the "after"...

Am I on the right track?

Theres different opinions on Polished and satin finished. I prefer the face to be polished and the back to satin. Also one tip for FE, the tongue of the blade is unecessary and is the lowest pitched part of the blade which is good for IC engines but is not needed with FE due to the torque of brushless motors.

Maybe it's just the photos but in the 4th picture down it doesn't look very thinned or sharp, I try to get my blades cross section triangular, nice and shiny though.

I will be thinning it more once I have a balancer to help guide me. I'm just getting started. :D

Sharp and balanced is more important than thin. Make sure the trailing edge is flat with sharp corners.

I have run many different surface props on my 1:1 boat, including several cleavers. I am familiar with the importance of a squared-sharp trailing edge. This one was finished with a fine grit bar. It can shave off curly pieces of fingernail on the trailing edge.

Nice and very fast.....just love the air traps.
OB's are great, Flat and Runner bottoms very neat but I wish I had an old TX-19 Young Blood jet or California Performance with air traps like yours.

I balanced the prop to perfection and squared the trailing edge one more time. Ready to run now. :)

This prop pushed my bone-stock Blackjack 29 to 58.1 MPH on 6s.
