    Default Scale woody runabout

Well guys,I finally broke down and picked up one of these scalers.I was wanting to scratch one of these but I have been helping a buddy with his "Miss Canadiana" and realize the time involved in a build such as this.

So this is her,the Monaco. ENJOY

    Nice one.
I've always liked a good woody. (get your mind out of the gutter.)
What do you have powering it. Spill the beans. Full set up please.
    Cheers.
    Paul.

Hey Paul, right now is a Traxxas 775 motor with a blown EVX speedy. Let the 6 yr old run it and she found some weeds. So I am not sure yet what to do with it. Go brushless and a little more go or not, feel free to toss an opinion in. I should get on it and place an order with Steve for the makings. The GF wants it on her mantle,LOL.

I usually ran the Johnson 785 motors in that type of scale boat. In the ones I replaced with brushless I used an outrunner of about 1000kv on 4s. If the speed was too much & 'unscale' like I just ran them on 3s.
Depending on the weight & size of the boat you have there, either of these would do.

    I've used them both.
Here's the little black one in a 4' semi planing hull. The Wasp. on 4s with a 120 ESC. Just to show you the pace of it. But it is a very light balsa hull.

If you went with the Turnigy 600 you probably wouldn't even need a cooling plate & it would fit straight on the existing motor mount I think. It's about the same physical size as a 700 series brushed motor.

Of course, if you have a brushless inrunner lying around in the 1000-1200kv rating try that.

    Just a thought.
    Paul.

Geez, haven't checked in here for awhile. Thanks for the advice Paul. I pretty much took it. T 500 1600kv and a hidden SK 120

I had to add a little intake for ESC cooling but it runs good.

I'm glad to hear it all worked out for you.
Here's the latest woody that I'm converting to R/C.

    Beautiful lines aren't they.
No, not scratch built this time. Just another one of those static display models that I like to cut the guts out of & trick it out for R/C.
I'll start a thread on it once I get started.
