    Question The Orderof Things

After seeing a photograph of a cooling loop in a boat, it got me to thinking. The photo I saw showed the water intake running to the Motor, then to the ESC before exiting the boat. I would have thought that the motor would have got hotter then then ESC, hence meaning that the flow of water meant that the heated water from the motor would actually warm the ESC instead of cooling it.

So, which direction should the water flow from intake to exit to ensure the best cooling performance. I know that the best would be to use a seperate circuit for each, but in the instance of just the single loop, which way would be best?

depends on which one you care about the most!!!HA

should cool esc first since what little it really does you want it as cool as possible.

    Agreed.
However depending on size and setup 2 circuits works best and gives optimum cooling to both items. But can lead to lots of pipes inside your boat, that might leak if you dont fit it properly.

run the water through motor and ESC in parallel!!!
you'll then reduce water flow and hopefully increase heat exchange!

I cool my ESC first because it tends to run a tad bit hotter than my motor.
