Default The motor of choice for Mini Racing classes

    Hello all,
I am trying to establish in my club a new junior race class to attract younger members.
My questions is what is the motor(s) of choice for mini and mono1 & hydro1 (Naviga classes)?
    Please advise.
    Regards

    Hi,

Wish 2S1P LiPo 2200 mAh 20 - 30C (for NAVIGA Classes max. weight 110 gramm):
    for MINI Hydro - 4000 - 4600 KV, Props - 30 - 32 mm /1,4. Run time 4,5 - 6 min.
    for MINI MONO - 3900 - 4400 KV, Props - 30 - 32 mm /1,4. Run time 4,5 - 6 min.
    for MINI ECO - 3400 - 3900 KV, Props - 23 - 25 mm /1,4. Run time 5 - 7 min

For my - best motor - Tenshock 1515 serie

Wish 3S1P LiPo 1400 mAh 20C (for NAVIGA Classes max. weight 110 gramm):
    for MINI Hydro - 3000 - 3400 KV, Props - 30 - 32 mm /1,4. Run time 4,5 - 6 min.
    for MINI MONO - 2900 - 3300 KV, Props - 30 - 32 mm /1,4. Run time 4,5 - 6 min
    for MINI ECO - 2300 - 2500 KV, Props - 23 - 24 mm /1,4. Run time 5 - 7 min

I know this topic. We run mini hydro for 3 seasons with us in the championship.

That sounds right, I ran 4600kv on 2s 2100mAh and now run 3000kv on 3s 1500mAh in my mini hydros, which fits in there. I use Mega 1615 series motors, but they have increased a lot in price since I got them and while they are very good motors they are no longer the bargain that they used to be. I see a Megas, Leopards and Tenshocks being used with success, I think Tenshock and Mega are better than Leopard, but the purchase prices reflects that too, and leopards probably win for price/performance if you are thinking of a stock motor class.

That is a very interesting little rigger you linked to Gromov, do you have any pics of it set up? I would be interested to see where everything goes inside, and what the back end is about. With a 450mm long tub the sponsons can't stick out in front and it looks like the back doesn't have much volume to put stuff in, is it hard to get the CoG back far enough? Do you run the prop level/above the bottom to use it as twin skis, or run the prop below the bottom to use them as twin sponsons, clear of the water under throttle but aiding launching and keeping the back up in turns?
