Bring spares I guess but you would think in 2012 almost 2013 we would have a handle on these melt downs.

This tells me the poster has no idea what SAW racing is all about. In short it is not like oval racing where dependability is king - you have to finish to win. Rather it is about pushing the envelope to reach higher and higher speeds, and often that means breaking parts. The above comment is like saying that after 100 years of automobile development IHRA racers should have a handle on blown engines....

I have competed in over a dozen SAW events, and over 50% of them resulted in burned ESCs. It's just the cost of doing business.

I'm going to rephrase that for you Jay... It's just the cost of having THAT MUCH FUN!!! Kind of like the hangover the next morning, after a night of epic awesomeness...

There were some nice runs today. Some did well while others ran into some motor and ESC issues. I'll post pics up soon. Great run everyone! Congrads to Bill Oxidean again setting a new personal record! Where were you Darin?

I stumbled on this event. I couldn't believe what I saw! I'm a few weeks into the hobby now. The guys were friendly and helpful. Can't wait for my NAMBA card so I can join in the fun!

Welcome to the addiction. When everything else goes sideways in the hobby (personalities, politics etc), a good SAW event always gets my focus back in the right direction.

    Thumbs up

Congratulations to everyone who attended - new record holders or not. I really missed being there, especially after seeing all that high quality water! Perhaps in 2013.......

Bill Oxidean Shatters 2 More World Records At The 2012 NAMBA Straightline Speed Time Trials. On November 2nd, 2012 Venom/Atomik/Novak team driver

Bill Oxidean makes electric model boating history by shattering yet another 2 more records this race season! With a custom built carbon fiber hydroplane(rigger)Bill went a blistering speed of 74mph getting a 2-way average of 71.656mph on 1-cell using Venom’s 5000 50c 1s packs! The previous record was 59mph and 74mph is the fastest recorded pass on 1-cell lipo the world over. Bill then used the same boat to obliterate the stock (17.5) hydro record at a whopping speed of 56.744mph with a high pass of 58.9mph!

    Congradulations again!!!!!
