1) Looks crude, but it works.
I pulled the jumbo LED from the HK low voltage sensor and wired it into the top front of the cowls. This way we could set them at a level where we would have enough time to see the light go off and keep the batteries at the 80% rate.
Silicone to seal it up.
A strip of velcro in the hull between the batts is where it sits, and one piece in the cowl when separating the top from the bottom.

2) Didn't want the boats in the way, so here is how we hang them from the wall.
