    Default # of SAWs

Not to steal anyones thread, I am placing one.

I was wondering what you guys think about having so many SAW events in a single year?
I think technology is changing fast but is it really changing that fast?
Should we maybe keep straighline racing to something like 4 races per year MAX, 2 NAMBA and 2 IMPBA that combine all power sourcers?
    What do you guys think?

Keep in mind that I love this type of races but I don't want it to lose it's meaning...

    Same answer as on RRR:

Why?? My major disappointment with FE is that there are so few races, especially oval. So SAWS and 2-lap become all there is. Why limit it??

We have 2 more SAWS and 1 more 2-lap at Legg this year. Plus the 2-Lap at the NAMBA FE NATS. So that gives me 4 more opportunities to run my FE boats in a competitive environment. After the FE NATS God only knows when the next oval FE race within a thousand miles of me will be.

This is why I am going gas, so I can race. Six more gas races this year, including a big 3-day event in Vegas. Plus 2 more SAWS and a 2-lap. So in the next 6 months I can race (SAWS or Oval) my gas boats 9 times, and that does not include going to the Gas/Nitro NATS.

My FE boats will get 4 shots with the SAWS and 2-lap, including the NATS.

Beyond that I don't think that IMPBA and NAMBA should be making determinations on the number of events based on what the other is doing.

There's my 4 cents worth (inflation).

    Cool

To me it's not about changing technology - there is no change with nitro tech but they still have lots of SAWs each year. Like others have said, it's another opportunity to race, and the more the merrier. No new records need to be set at a SAW event - the racers just have to have fun. That particular aspect of the sport seems to be lost on some participants....

Maybe I am holding on to it to hard...
I should just let it be a race... and not put it on a pedestal.

    All good answers,
    thanks.

Jan, both Bill and Doug have one thing in common, they came, they SAW, they conquered.

    Your turn next Jan?

Jan if just that thought is all you walk away with then your thread has been worthwhile. We all need goals in life. I could feel the excitement of Bill, Doug and Ron as they set their SAW records. I was excited for them and I do not even know them. It is ok to put it on a pedestal if that is your thing but others view it different. Remember Bill and Doug are still learning how to drive in a straight line so that is why they want more SAW racing. They need the practice. (That should get me into some trouble)
Mate I live on an island where I just have a gps to race but I am just as excited as any SAW record holder is when I set a new personal best record. The difference is the SAW record holder shares it with the world and I share it with the ducks at the pond.
To set a SAW record is a special thing. They play football, baseball and basketball every week around the world and those sports do not loose their magic for those that love them. SAW racing will never loose its place in our hearts. Some people will come and some will go but there will always be SAW racing.

There was a young man called Jan
Who said "I bet I can",
    He pulled on the trigger
And broke the record with his rigger,
With a little help from Randy
It was just like seperating a baby and its candy,
    After that he swore
That he would always come back to SAW

Man that is poetry..... yeah I know, bad poetry.
