Default Genesis SAW running gear. What should I get?

I traded one of my rock crawlers for a ARTR Genesis a few weeks ago and am trying to get it going. I first ran it as it came to me. Stock 2075kv motor and stock 100A ESC. It has a brass prop but no indication of size or pitch. I ran it with two 5000mah, 20-30C, 2S packs in series (4S was the limit I was told). It was fast but I blew a battery. Oh well no big deal. I ordered two Zippy 5000mah 45C 2S packs to put in it, got them and ran it. It was fast again but this time I blew the ESC. So time for a new ESC. What should I put in it? I'm looking for fast but not stupid fast, I liked the speed I was getting before it blew. My pond is glass smooth 90% of the time and I don't really run in anything less than perfect conditions. I'd like to keep using the new 2S I bought but I also have two 3S I could use. I think the prop may be too much for the setup. So......fill in the blanks:

    Motor: HK 2075kv
    ESC: ???
    Battery: Zippy 5000mah 45C 2S (x2)
    Prop: ???

I picked up a Turnigy 180A Esc, best amp rating for the money. Should hold up better I think.

grab a turnigy 180 esc and a m445 prop and possibly upgrade the motor bud.maybe a leopard 4074 2150 or 2200kv on 4s should be ok.Typically a cat will draw less amps because of the shape of the hull and its kinda skating on water fyi.

I'd go ahead and buy the new motor now before that one fails and takes out your new esc. Those motors don't hold up very well.

Ok so I finally decided to get this boat going again. I picked up a Leopard 4074 2200kv motor, and I figured out I have an Octura X642 prop. I also figured out I already have a 3/16 drive cable and collet installed. I have two Zippy 5400 45c 2S packs I'm planning on running in series. Does this sound like a decent setup? I forgot to order the new mounting ring so I won't be able to install anything till I get that. Just want to know if I'm on track here.

Do you think I will be ok with that prop? Or should I get another prop to try?

    I run 2200kv m445 T180 on 5s for 68mph.
the x642 will go faster. COG is everything in getting these things to go fast. Start about half way down the middle ride pad. if its blowing over move them forward, if too wet or glued to the surface move them back a bit till it rides how u want it.
the m445 4s 2200kv combo should see you 50mph easy, much over that they start to blow over.

Its been a while since I put this thing together. The first time out I spun the coupler on the flex cable a screwed it up, didn't get past 1/4 throttle. It sat broke for a while. Well today I fixed the flex cable, cleaned up the coupler and charged the batteries and took it out. It's fast, but I couldn't get it to full throttle. I ran a couple laps at 1/4 throttle and made sure everything was working. I slowly increased to half throttle for a few more laps. Still good. As I slowly laid into the throttle again I hit about 3/4 and then it cut out. The prop was still spinning and I still had control but it was limiting my throttle to about half. I pulled it in and opened it up. Everything was fine and nothing was even warm. I plugged the batteries back in and sent it back out. Same thing. It cut out at 3/4 throttle. Came in, unplugged and plugged back in and it was fine. It did this three times. It seems like the ESC isn't set right or something. Are two 2S 45C packs in series not enough for this setup maybe? Do I need a higher rated pack?

You need to set the low voltage cutoff to off on the esc. That should fix your problem. What prop are you running?

I'm running the x642 but I also have a m445. I'll look and see what the low voltage cutoff is set at

If u have a T180 esc then definitely turn off your LVC, they are known for being bad for it.
You want about 6000mAh at 65c or so to run ~2 mins. With turning off the LVC u will have to time your runs, and carefully work out how long u can run it for without burning your packs and boat up.

I'm running a Genesis (very modded) Neu 1515 2200kv Castle 240a with capbank (a must) on 6S 642 prop 78mph, but strut was definately set wrong. With a 445 prop you are going to get alot more torque roll and considerable more amp draw...as suggested you do need some higher c rated lipos. With your current esc and motor you could go 6S. My buddy and I run several boats with 4082 and 4074 2200kv on 6S with T-180, with a better additional capbank and they handle it no prob. On a s/b/t cupped 445 I had a run that was at least in the upper 80's, tried to do gymnastics on that run and destroyed my gps so cant claim the top speed for sure. As Tristan pointed out this hull is touchy about cg and very sensitive to strut adjustments. 3-5 mm difference in strut height from 642 to 445... DJ

Yes, I do. Do you need the settings for the programer.

    1) running mode...values 1 forward only 2 forward and reverse
    2) lipo cells..........values 1 auto calculate 2 2S 3 3S 4 4S etc
    3) low voltage cutoff......1 off 2 2.8v 3 3.0v 4 3.2v 5 3.4v
    4) timing.......................1 0.00 2 3.75 3 7.50 4 11.25 5 15.00

I would try values of 1 1 1 3 to start with and check temps, with the 642 you will probably be able to eventually go with 15* for timing....hope this helps.. DJ
