Picked up my Impulse 31 the same day ProBoat decided to announce the release of their new version. Needless to say I was a little disappointed but then I realized that there were still a few months till it came out for real, which is plenty of time for me to make my impulse as good and better than the new version. Got a chance to work on her one night this weekend here is were I am at so far. Could not find my camera so had to use the GoPro HDHero 2.
Ripped out all the wood. Used light dremeling and heavy hand sanding to smooth things out some. Wasn't a fan of the square looking box around stuffing tube so i dremeled the front bracing into an arch and used some thin balsa to give it a curved look. Did not go all the way to the back, had to leave room for water to get out the drain hole.
Taped off outside and layed down a quick black primer. This trick really helps when laying down carbon fiber. You won't have to worry about the fiberglass showing through the weave if it gets a little off.
Finally laid down the carbon fiber sheet. Will come back with a another light layer of resin to smooth out the first layer. I don't like using too much resin just enough to get a smooth service. But this can wait till I get my motor mount and servo mount in.
SO now I'm waiting for the motor and servo mount to come in, as well as a Leopard 4082. And it appears as though the SeaKing/Turnigy 180 is sold out every where so I'm hunting for one of those as well to throw in.
Im also thinking I'm gonna try out Alsa Killer cans for a nice paint job. It'll be a first for me so stay tuned for what's sure to be an interesting build.
