What are your battery temps?
5000mah 20C batteries are designed to only discharge safely at up to 100 amps max. (give or take depending on quality, the accuracy of manufactures ratings, and whether or not they also have a burst C rating))
If you are pulling 140 you could be seeing some significant resistance in the batteries.
Your ESC and motor might be running cooler because they are not getting full current.

yes, I will get 30c or 40c next time or more capacity ones, what do you run i there?
pulling 88-90 amps on 4s with stalk prop.
I run 5000 mah 45-90C batteries, and a turnigy 180 amp ESC.
In one spartan I run a leopard 4082 1500kv motor on 6s and in the other I run a castle 1515 2200kv motor on 5s. (current setup. I change it up now and then to experiment)

hi, are you getting 4 beeps than red. red green for low voltage startup everytime you run your castle spartan esc?
is the turnigy 180 amp boat esc programmable with hobbywing card?
Kevin, do you get 4 beeps ,than red red green beeps for lipo start up on castle spartan esc?
I've never used the Castle Spartan ESC. I stripped the OEM ESC, motor, and radio out of both Spartans when new and installed aftermarket equipment.
Sorry I can't provide any feedback on this for you.
Seems there are very few participating on the forum right now, try asking over at the Spartan forum on the Traxxas website.
