Get a stepped down 1/4 to 3/16th stub shaft and start with a X445 or X447 prop. I sell the shafts if you need one $29.95 plus shipping

Always start with the smaller prop first to save burnt up ESC.

Also run the ESC at full throttle it will run cooler. If it is too fast go to a smaller prop until you reach speeds you can handle.

Hi Hyroman.......................if you want no sugar coating here the KB45 is not at all up to the task of powering a 1/8 hull. Especially coupled with a prather 270. I really hope you dont try it cuz my bet is that it will pop the 240a ESC..............that's how inefficient and amp hoggish they are....................that motor is a recipe for disaster in that hull. You need at least a Leopard 5692 in the 1000-1200kv range. Just giving you facts based on my experience

    Cool

How fast do you want to go? What kind of run time do you expect? If you are running 8S then I'd suggest getting a motor with a Kv between 800 and 950. Using a 1300 Kv motor on 8S virtually guarantees a burned up ESC and damaged cells. And a 45mm prop is really too small for a big 1/8th scale boat; it may or may not even plane off with one. With a good 900 Kv motor and good cells you can run up to an x460 and get speeds in the mid-60s...if the boat is well setup. With budget parts I'm not so sure. Remember you can have cheap, fast or reliable - choose any two.

This hobby is so much more fun when you run quality equipment within it's limits, been my experience that the guys who are trying to go fast cheap seem to spend more time waiting for new parts than actually running the boat!
I think it costs less to do it right the first time.......in the long run.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?
