That motor is to high kv for 8s for a motor & boat of this size giving over 39000rpm unloaded. id look for something around 1000kv on 8s.

Thats a 6s motor but will certainly do the job well!!

This motor would rock on 8s and is plenty big.......... http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...or_1050kv.html

6s would probably suit me better. Keep costs a little lower as I need new batts as well.
I haven't used one before but I think I will need a spark eliminator, definitely if I go 8s. Kintec has a few.

    Would I get better run time on a 6s or 8s set-up?

I have a load of 3/16 cable but 8 to 3/16 seems a bit too big a difference.
Should I go up to 4mm cable on this one?

    thanks

That hull is borderline 6s/8s to me.........................

3/16 setup should work, I thought you intended to run 8s?

What do you mean borderline 6/8s??

What battery configuration do you suggest for 8s?

I mean that a 42" boat is on the edge of being either a 6s or 8s boat. Run 8s2p, four 4s batts, two in series then paralleled to another set.

Even a Leo 4082/1600 on 6s2p will get you around 90-95km/h with a 448 prop. it's not bad.

    I have the same setup(turnigy 5690 1320kv-aquastar 240hv-6s5800 zippy lightmax X2 parallel)on a 45 cardiff.The prop is the prather 240(53,8mm and 1,55 pitch).
And i can play for around 20 minutes!!!!!!!Highly recomended setup.Otherwise you can go for a T600 outrunner 1400kv and prop around 47 but it is smoother than the 5692 monster!!!!

I will have better results after next weekend about the top speed that i will do some test with a gps on,some propellers, and i hope flat water conditions. The mount and water jacket that i use is from horracing and they are perfect. You can also try the large rudder and the stinger version 2 from the same shop.If you are going to play on sea it is better to install trim tabs and turn fins also.It will help you to have the boat on the water and not in the air!!!!

There's a cc1717 for sale in the swap shop. I'm using one in a 41" mono and a x447/3. Awesome motors!

What's your top speed? I would be interested to see inside your boat.

Thanks for the vid. Your boat looks nice and trimmed. I was kinda hoping for 60MPH with this build but I don't want to push it.
This is my 2nd ever build plus it will be a restore as the boat is pre-owned by a nitro racer.
I will start a build thread soon.

Oh and what is your run time?

The speed is possible. Scorp has a cc1717 in has vadar hull and it hit 60mph if I'm not mistaken. With better cells and a bigger prop I'm sure my speed would have been really close to your goal. I'm actually going to drop down from 6s2p to 5s2p and increase the mah to 12,000mah. I'm looking for less speed and more runtime.

That Vader does look great on the water! His signature reads 59MPH so just off maybe.
I have a lot of work to do on this hull before I start putting anything in it. I cleaned out the inside today, awful job after nitro use.
Removed old hardware, gotta rip out old stuffing tube, needs a few crack repairs, re-enforcing and a paint job.

I'm using this KV guide for voltage.

So if I was to choose between the 1320kv or the 1000kv HK Motor / 6s or 8s set-up
The 8s set-up would give me slightly higher RPM thus giving me a slightly higher speed?

I have this huge prop that came with the DF MK II but I doubt its any good for FE use
How big a prop can the 5692 motors swing?

4s batteries as directed above from scorp / make a wake. Minimum capacity? and with what C rating?
Most higher capacity batts seem to be 30c or less.

    Thanks for the help
