    Default Motor & ESC replacement

    Hi
    Anyone tried this combo ?
    Turnigy 3665B 2100 motor
    Turnigy 120 ESC
    4S, 40C, 5000 mAh, LiPo’s
I'm thinking of this in a SV27. I have the batteries but the existing motor and ESC needs replacing.
    Thx

LOL be fun to watch! Could be frustrating having that much power in a Superflip, I love mine but I don't think I'd want it much faster than stock, don't like retrieving flipped boats that much, anything but fairly calm water usually leads to some interesting aerobatics in our SV club races, they are all running the spec motors. GPS's at a bit under 40mph in race trim. Depending on the water we are seeing 36-38 mph during our races. Catch a wake wrong and it's off in flight.
We're going to be running outriggers with pretty much exactly that setup this summer, esc choice is open to anything though. Should be another fun reasonably priced class.
I've had great luck buying used proboat and aquacraft motors and esc off the forum, everybody wants to stick big motors in their RTR boats so I get to spec race for dirt cheap when they sell off the stock stuff to fund the upgrade.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

I have a ad in the wanted section for a UL-1 or Proboat motor, no hits yet. HK is out of the 3650-1800. I hate to pay retail for the UL-1 motor so thats why I was looking at the 3665. My motor and ESC is history so I'm looking at a cost effective solution.
    Thx

Check if fightercat has what you are looking for or Hobbypartz with a tacon motor.
Hears a link and its a little out of the box thinking,https://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...runner-and-6s)

The UL-1 motor is no faster than the 1800kv or even the blue can one for that matter, propped correctly they will go the same speed and use about the exact same amount of juice from the packs. Higher rpm = less torque and smaller prop, lower rpm = more torque and bigger prop.
Wouldn't want any of them running any hotter after a full run. All of them are the same wattage, thats why they are all allowed in the spec racing class, the powers that be have decided that they are all equal.
I'd stay far away from those gold can turnigy motors, 2 pole motors that aren't very efficient, John smoked one, couldn't keep the heat under control trying to turn enough prop to be competitive. Eventually burned through the insulation and the motor shorted. Now he is running a UL-1 motor, comes down to driver, I can't catch him and he can't catch me unless one of us makes a mistake. His young lad is just as fast with the blue an motor, just needs to get some more practice racing and he will be right up there as well. In the straights I can't make any time on him, only in the corners because he is still scared of hitting a marker so he tends to run wide.
LOL thats why I love the spec or limited classes, makes for great, close running. All you really need is some luck and a bit of driving skill and anybody can win.

Hey flynow, i did a thread/review on the couple of new Turnigy motors i bought last December when they first came out. I love 'em, 4 pole and very poweful. I put the exact motor you are referring to in a 13lb, extended wheelbase Emaxx on 4s and it threw the truck around like it was nothing. Great product at 40 bucks a pop.

Here's the thread that includes a vid of the run with the Emaxx:

Great info! Everything I've read says it's a pretty good motor as long as you stay within the recommended wattage. Would you happen to know which water jacket is a good fit on the 3665? I have found several that are 36mm and 60mm or so in length but I'll like to know which one is a good fit for sure before ordering.
    Thx
