Anyone tried building one of these yet? Looking for a few pointers on set up as I'll be starting a build on one of these but converted to electric. Found some post's on the gasser sites but nothing on electric. Any help appreciated, :)

Marks boat makes the lake look so much smaller. Beast is rightly named. I've seen this vid before and am awestruck each time I view it. Brutal power.

What I have so far
1 Castle 2028 780kv
2 10s 4500mah 40c lipo's for 9000 mah in 2p
1 x460 and 1 x462 props.
Strut and rudder
Turn fin
Motor mount
1/4 flex drive
I have almost everything to build it except for a few pieces of hardware. I will need brass tubing, collet, some cooler lines and most importantly, 1 Fightercat 400amp 16s ESC.
Updated pic's;
Added CF plate reinforcement to transom
GEDC2265.jpg
Rudder Placement
GEDC2266.jpg
I use a dremel tip to start the holes
GEDC2267.jpg
Then advance to the correct drill bit
GEDC2268.jpg
Added CF/K mat to inboard floor between rail's
GEDC2270.jpg
I fab'd some motor mount brackets out of CF plate
and sandwiched them together into a 3 ply piece
bonded with 2 part epoxy from Illstreet composites.

Attachment 83080
Attachment 83081
The front and rear brackets are also tapped
and held together with 4mm cap head screw's
Attachment 83082
Brackets are installed on the rails
GEDC2332.jpg
Used a clamp to hold in place while drilling holes for rail mount.
GEDC2326.jpg
Used 4 3mm cap head bolts to secure the bracket to the rail

Looks good so far John. Do you think you may have it in the water this season?
Team Liquid Dash
I hope to Ray By the end of August anyway! I need to get the batt's and the ESC situated. This thing really cook's on 10s! You had a great Idea Thanks for the opp to build this one
More pictures;
I made similar 3 ply mount's for the stuffing tube.
GEDC2333.jpg
Another pic of the motor mount bracket's.
GEDC2332.jpg
Stuffing tube mounted.
GEDC2334.jpg
I used a drill bit to center the stuffing tube mount,
and set the angle of the tube itself.
GEDC2327.jpg
I used the drill bit to mark my area for the entrance of the stuffing tube.
GEDC2336.jpg
And more pic's,
Finished drilling the opening holes.
GEDC2341.jpg
Finished off the opening and placed the tube through the hull.
GEDC2355.jpg
Bird's eye view.
GEDC2356.jpg
Side view.
GEDC2357.jpg
I cut a piece of CF/K to fit the opening and overlapped
one piece with another to close any gap.
GEDC2354.jpg
A few more;
Added cloth and 2 part epoxy to the opening.
GEDC2358.jpg
Looking from the rear forward.
GEDC2360.jpg
Bird's eye view of opening after setting up.
GEDC2361.jpg
Interior view of cured epoxy.
GEDC2362.jpg
I used some loose pieces of CF/K cloth to
add to the bottom of the hull opening.
GEDC2369.jpg
And a few more;
I poured 2 part epoxy into the opening pocket
created by the opening filler on the interior.
This is where I added the strands of CF/K fiber.
GEDC2365.jpg
Cured stuffing tube opening.
GEDC2370.jpg
Rear view of finished stuffing tube install.
GEDC2372.jpg
Side view of finished product.
GEDC2373.jpg
Just a few more :)
I cut the .250 flex cable to length with a cut off wheel
in my dremel tool.
GEDC2378.jpg
Installation of the flex. It lines up perfectly with the motor collet
indicating proper mounting of the tube and bracket.
GEDC2374.jpg
Ariel view of cable installed.
GEDC2375.jpg
I'm using a stainless cable saver from McMaster-Carr as
suggested by a fellow forum member.
GEDC2449.jpg
I used vacuum caps to cover any exposed bolts or nuts
to prevent any damage to the 10s Lipo's.
GEDC2450.jpg
Just a couple more....really :)
I'm using an Octura x462 prop, currently unfinished, but soon to be :)
GEDC2453.jpg
I used wire loom hold downs and screwed them
into the side's of the rails to hold the cooling tube's in place.
GEDC2455.jpg
Working on the routing of the cooler tube's.
GEDC2456.jpg
These should keep everything tidy :)
GEDC2457.jpg
Nice an neat and no worries of rubbing through.
GEDC2449.jpg
VERY nice John.
You going to come out and run with us this summer?
Boats looking good. My batteries went down the center and into the nose. The motor was mounted right behind the batteries. Everything gets mounted so you can get the cg 1 to 1.5" behind the sponson. You can probably get away with a more aggressive prop like a 560 or bigger since this is a hydro.
Mark
Thanks for your reply MarkF :) I was hoping you would chime in on this one! I used a rolled cardboard carton to balance her on and I think I'm pretty close to that. I finished the steering linkage. Trying to decide if wooden battery mounts are strong enough or should I get carbon fiber mounts. I also want to put the ESC over the motor on a CF plate and screw it into the stuffing tube mount and Velcro it with 2" wide strips. More pictures to come
So quit typin' and keep buildin' I want to see this baby run!
Just a few pics;
Arial view of steering linkage.
GEDC2499.jpg
Installed the rubber boot on the extruded piece of CF tubing used for the rod.
GEDC2500.jpg
I used milled fiberglass added to the epoxy and bonded the CF plate to the bottom of the hull and to the rail.
I used CF tubing for a ridged path for the steering rod.
GEDC2501.jpg
Close up view of steering support.
GEDC2503.jpg
Close up view of CF servo mount. I used a 3x4 piece of CF/K cloth, laid it down with the servo mount on top of it,
and poured the 2 part epoxy around it. It helped fill any gaps between the mount against the bottom of the hull.
GEDC2504.jpg
Last pics of the night
Last close up of the steering servo and CF mount.

Same again,

Close up of the stainless cable saver.

So is there an oiler on there John? I've been hanging with some gas guys and that is what they run.
Move the shaft saver up next to the collet after you tighten the collet to keep the unbalanced shaft saver from whipping the cable in the tube.
Turn the prop by hand or with a drill in the correct direction, the strands act like a screw and will pull the grease toward the prop.
More pic's;
I've been trying to place the ESC in a accessible position and also add a little weight to the back end due to the large batteries, so I came up with a CF plate and mount it using the stuffing tube mount and the motor mount. I'm going to mount it using velcro straps and 2 inch wide velcro strip.
