Default 4092 leopard and hobbywing 180 esc

I have a 29inch aeromarine mean machine and am trying to come up with a 65-70mph combo. I have a 4074 1400kv leopard this will not do it on 6s so im wondering about 8s and whats a good esc for 8s. My other option would be a 4092 1730kv on 6s will a hobbywing 180 esc handle it. Either way its going to cost the same being a 4092 and a hobbywing 180 or a good 8s esc. I know the 4082 on 6s is only going to get me in the low 60's thats the reason for going 4092. Thanks for any help its much appreciated theres only one other guy around here that does electric like me everybodyelse is still running gas and nitro.

I use the 200 amp Castle Hydra Ice HV2. Good up to 12 cells.

You can make your speed goals with a higher KV motor such as the Leopard 3674 3270KV, use 4S2P, a 180 amp, 6S, ESC like the Hobbywing Seaking & save a lot of $. JIM

A Leopard 4082 can get you to 70 if its all set up well. A member on here got a 36"+ Genesis hull going 90 mph with a 4082.

I'd suggest a 4082 2000kv on 6s or the 4092 1730kv on 8s.................running it with a Swordfish 240hv cuz these setup will draw some big amps.

I don't usually jump in where it's none of my business, but if you follow my dear, well intentioned but misguided buddy Jim's advice you will very likely qualify for immediate membership in the ZSP/WTS? Club*

To begin with, a 36 can 3270KV motor will, turning 46,000 rpm () for a few seconds at least rocket the MM forward like it's shot out of a cannon, followed immediately by a slow, smoking halt - that is if the MM stays anywhere near earth. The MM hull packs lots of air and approaching 60 and most definitely 70 will require a parachute to return it safely to earth. Of course, you'll save lots of $$ if such an experience prompts you to quit FE. Just sayin......

Proper is certainly correct about the MM packin air...............its short and wide...................so be ready for your results at warp speeds.

If you think that you need 6S or 8S to go 65mph-70-mph, consider these records ALL set on 4S :

    P-OPC : 72.886 mph
    P-Mono : 73.218 mph
    P-Offshore : 82.48 mph
    P-Sport Hydro : 93.16mph
    P-Hydro : 111.38mph

How 'bout records speeds set in the realm You're looking for on 2S :

    N-2 Offshore : 62.48mph
    N-2 Mono : 63.73mph
    N-Sport Hydro : 71.725mph
    N-2 Hydro : 93.828mph

    Again, Just Sayin.......

I have seen vids of the aeromarine mean machine gpsd at 75 with good stability so its possible when setup right. im leaning towards bigger motor because i know all about burning escs. Thats why if using 8s i need 1400kv or less or 1600 to 1800 kv for 6s anymore than that and your not going to be able to keep it pegged for very long without things burning.I want to set something up that i dont have to worry about catching on fire. Plus im trying to work with the 4074 1400kv that i have but it will have to be a 8s setup. Or i could just buy a bigger motor and a 6s esc which is the same cost as me buying a esc for 8s and using my 4074.

BTW - these setups i mentioned above were for HIGH speed..............take 2s off of each for regular race running.

Dear Tony & company. Your dear, well intentioned but misguided buddy Jim here. My MM setup advice is intended for SAW only. It will have TWO Leopard 3674 3270KV, use 4S2P, and TWO 200/220 amp HK Birdie ESCs. I may have to put the batts way forward to keep it from flying away, but I don't think it will smoke the motors.

I've already run my single motor Apparition several times - 4 passes each - with the Leopard 3674 3270KV, using Turnigy 500mAh 60-130C Nano-Tec 4S2P, and a Hobbywing 180 amp ESC. The ESC runs cool, the motor hot - but not winding frying hot. The main problem has been at the bullet connectors. I've had to move up to 6.5mm/8mm bullets to eliminate silver solder melting. Remember, this is a P class, 15 volt max SAW race build. If you aren't running in the mid 40 K RPM range you ain't gonna set any new SAW records, in my well intentioned but misguided opinion.

And last: Tony, feel free to butt in on my ridiculous comments anytime. You, in my opinion, are DA MAN!!! JIM
