Need a strong, inexpensive servo??

I just ordered several of these servo's for a land application and to replace the 2075 in my Big Yellow 47". If these are anything like the specs indicate, they should be awesome for 22 bucks!! Alloy milled case, 200oz. of torque, and all metal gears!! Only thing that i can see that anyone may not like is the 0.2 speed, personally i dont think it will be a problem. I'll report back as to how they perform, but geez, at 22 bucks a pop and the specs, how can you go wrong?

Nice find! I myself have been loving the EXI servo's from hobbypartz. I have a few of them including one in my 41" mono and seems to work just fine!

180oz @ 6 volts.

I recently bought four of them and they are all in use. Work well, and priced amazingly low. A little heavy for small (sub 30 inch) boats but so far very pleased. I've used the HobbyPartz D226F a lot at $14.70 but high failure rate.

Saw those a while back but noticed many negative reviews. One important issue was it is not sealed and therefor not waterproof. Did want the cool alloy case but if it does not function all to well what is the point. Ended up with this for under $17. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...sec%5F52g.html. Had almost all 5 star reviews plus I found this which sold me. Look at the last page post #34 where he strips one down. The review start with EXI but did not fair so well and ends up with praise for the Turnigy. These were being tested on monster trucks which take a heck of lot more abuse compared to a boat. http://www.ultimaterc.com/forums/sho...=116488&page=4

FYI. These are relabeled Blue Bird servos which actually have the same model number but go for $50.

Ill have to check out those sevos listed. I've had good luck with my exi's (knock on wood), but always looking for the more reliable equipment! Great information provided guys!

My friend Stephen got one wet and it failed. Pop them open, squirt in some Corrosion-X to prevent probs, also I smeared some silicone around the case joint as well. There's actually a version a few bucks cheaper with metal bottom & plastic top but I kaboshed one on my tunnel - the idle gear post broke out of where it inserted into the plastic top so for a few bucks more the all metal one seems bulletproof.

If opening up the servo you could just waterproof it. I didn't even take this one fully apart. Just sprayed the board. After getting wet I just open back out and spray out with some electrically cleaner and make sure the gears are lubed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Treb...e_gdata_player

Check out the second link on my previous post. The idle gear in the Turnigy one is inserted into a metal bushing in the top cap which makes it about as strong as a full metal top.

Yup, I see it, BUT the bushing broke out the circular depression it was pressed in to. To be fair, the biggest servo failures I had were on my tunnel, where endoes would torque the outdrive with enough leverage to do the damage.

I have been using the $6.50 orange 51G MG servos, i have two of them
one spent it's life in an airboat, getting wet constantly (no waterproofing), and survived through to the winter where one day it was cold enough some leftover moisture turned to ice and cracked one of the IC's (don't remember if it was a FET or not), either that or it just got cold enough.
I repleced the electronics with one from a hitc servo with crapped gears, still going strong!
i plan on using a FC 1/8 servo for my next build (twin lynx) and will let you guys know how it turns out.

Futaba If you're thinking about replacing the stock horn that comes with the servo (which is strong enough for most purposes) with a stronger metal one, think about this : if your rudder takes a whack strong enough to break the horn, let it. Better to break the horn [you get several with the servo] than strip the gears or some other internal damage. Just sayin'.....

Actually it has 2 silicone oil sealed bearings and 10.6kg/cm is way more than you will ever require in a boat. don't forget you are paying most of the price for the fancy aluminum case.
