I was wondering if my castle 2650 would push a 32" cat I have a 180 tunigy esc and already have the motor out of my jammin x2 so im trying to get away with what I have. I planed on runing 4s1p thanks rc Rob. The cat is a godspeed from r2 hobbies.

Probably go up in smoke, thats close to 40 000 rpm, 3s would be a much better choice even though your amp draw will go up.
Should be aiming for about 30 000 rpm, or a 2000 -2200 kv motor on 4s.
40K is around what the very experienced straight line speed guys run, they don't expect their equipment to last the summer though, they usually are running right on the edge.
YOu would have to turn a very small prop to avoid overloading the system, and would probably not be very happy with the performance with a stock prop.
I'd look at a different motor, something like a leopard 4074 2000kv or a bigger Castle of lower KV, Suppo t600 outrunner about 2000kv (I have one strong motor!)
Cars and boats are totally different in motor requirements, no gearing in boats and much higher loads on the motor.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?
+1 on the suppo 2000kv, i have one running on 5S, unfortunately i don't have 4S packs but it's a high RPM setup, and it's still spinning a 42mm prop with no cooling. (added a fan to keep temps down and water on the ESC)
If you are on a budget, this will make that 32" scream. Just need to prop it right. Plus it can handle up to 6S if you decide you want to. Real good combo with that 180 esc you already have. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=17698
Thanks guys the only reason I wanted to try that motor is I wanted to go smaller in my buggy so I was going to try the 2650 in the boat. I run it on 4s in the buggy but it makes sence that it will draw more with no gears. I have alot of 3s packs for my planes so thats not a big deal to run on 3s and I have a octura 442 do you think that is to much prop on 3s.

I would like to do around 50mph what speeds do you think that xk 4082 1600kv would get me. Kinda a stupid qustion unless sombody has one.

Wow that surprises me only a 40mm prop I ran that 442 on my stock pro boat with good runing temps. I dont no boats very well yet only planes and cars so have pateints with me and thanks for all the info from every body its my first time on this site.
depending on your plane packs, they likely won't hold up.
what are the ratings on your biggest (c rating and mah) 3S lipo?

Oh man, we all on this site are still learning...
Welcome to OSE, and hang on bro!
You will learn a lot on this site.. :)

Thats what I need I really dont like learning the hard way at three hundred dollars a pop. I did that when I taught myself how to fly. I havent read this much of anything in 15 years. I have been into rc stuff for 25 years so I will catch on to boats fast. Its just a pile of different parts I will be replacing lol.
budget option:
this motor:

either batt:

either of these, or both:

you could also go with a turnigy 4082, but i don't know the kv's off hand.
I already have turnigy 5000 a 5800 4s 30c turnigy 5000 3s 40c turn 4000 40c so I think im ok on that. I have a 442 prop spectrum rx tx 180 turnigy esc and I think I will pick up a 40mm prop try out the 2650 and monitor it close on 3s and 4s if she runs hot try out lepord 4074 2000kv or turnigy 4082 1600kv so that will be my next question wich motor would give more speed yes another speed freek.
4082 has more hp.
yea, but 1600kv on 4S isn't much RPM, isn't there a slightly higher KV one?
just increase prop size and you end up the same power to the water. Higher RPM is not always the correct answer. On 4s that motor unloaded will spin close to 24,000.
This recommendation comes from this site. "OSE Suggests 20,000-35,000 total rpm for boats. We (Leopard) suggest most Fast Electric Boaters should run in the 25,000RPM range for Sport Boating or 30,000RPM Range for racing"

So if I run my castle 2650 on 3s will it drop the rpm to where I need to be say runing a 38 or 40mm prop.

k thanks for the info its all ice here in michigan so I have time to stock up on differnt set ups for the boat. If I can drink enough beer I should have enough beer can money to buy both motors haha.
