Octura Prop Shapes

Is there any difference in the shape or performance between the Octura 1445 and x445 props? The published specs say they're identical but there has to be some reason why they market them with two different designations.

They are very different propellers even though the specs are the same. The X series props are designed to work on almost any model boat, producing good efficiency, low lift and excellent low speed acceleration. The 1400 series props are high lift props designed for hydros. They have rounded tips with more blade area and have the potential for higher speeds....but they often do not plane off well. Put one on a mono and it will probably just spin at a high rate without moving the boat forward much. It is possible to modify them, but for most uses the X props are "better".

I am running the 1445 on a hydro (a highly modified scratch build derived from the old Octura 4-60 four point design). The boat pretty much jumps onto the plane within 10 feet from a "dead stop" starting point. I still don't have enough run time on this prop to be sure that the 1445 isn't too much blade for this boat because of the drive cable harmonics that I've been working out. With luck, the motor temps will remain low enough to save me a lot of "prop shopping".
