Starting to get the Falcon cat straightened out. Removing the rest of the skeg helped the cornering a lot. I was still taking it easy on the east (right) side of the course as theat's where the winds were hitting the hardest. It would handle the west end at pretty much full noise though. The cut down Prather S270 added a few mph to it as well.

    Default 4/15/12

Winds today were varied, 10-20 moh from the ESE. Not a small boat kind of day but most of us junkies were in bad need of a fix so we ran our test n tune anyways. Yes there were "Small craft advisories" on the local news for the gulf waters. Other than the wind it was a beautiful day in the park.

First run up is Scott's HPR twin.

A round of Limited Spec Offshore. Many started, few finished with the wind and chop today.

Another run on Scott's HPR. This one features some glimpses of Bill's H&M Skater cat as well.

I don't want to talk about it. I'm about ready to put the internals back into my DF33 hull even if it gettin pretty ragged after a couple years abuse.

Was kinda a full house there today wasn't it? Seems we're starting to draw more and more spectators. Guess it's time to start thinking about investing in some safety fence and "NAMBA required beyond this point" signs.

More prop testing on my 2028 powered Falcon Cat. This time a Prather S255 with a slight back cut.

Yes, it was a bit crowded today. Scott and I just talked about this at length an hour or so ago and we need to get a grip on the situation before it gets too out of control. I would like to see safety and crowd control concerns/issues handled before the next heat race day on April 29th.

And thanks for hosting/posting the vids.

I agree. Looks like HD has 4'x100' lengths of the fence for about $25.00. Not bad at all. Posts are just under $5. each... Id imagine one every 10' would work, 50' down each side, thats 6 posts per side, so if my math is correct, for under $100. we can get the materials.

Ackerman was a bit "challenging" today. By the time we started running at 10:.00 the the winds were around 15 and gusting higher from the NE (worst possible direction.)
When the first handful of us arrived at 8 to put up the newly aquired safety netting there was not much breeze at. There was even one of the guys from SRQ flying a PBY from east side of of the lake. I grabbed the video camera and shot some of his flight. (lost him a couple of times due to the trees where we were standing and when he went right over my head).

1st boat video is a round of LSH. Four starters with a "last man standing" finish.

I got tired of fighting with the "Titanic" and put the motor and esc back into my DF33. With the Spring Shootout coming up at Waveblasters next month wanted to be sure I had something running right for it.
Even with the wind, chop and last place start still made a 1st finish. Yay me. (2nd round I was a dnf trying to take the lead away from Brian)

Don't know if it was from the wind and chop or what but I was a little disappointed by my 10s run on this one today. Almost that fast on 9s with the cut down S270. Ray keeps saying he want to put his GPS in it 'cause it sure looks faster in person.
It did handle the weather conditions nicely though.

Driving the little mean machine "PTD" (club specialty class) was loads of fun today. Brian took a quick lead with his well powered (also good for 60+ on smooth water) Explorer cat but that didn't last for long in today's chop.
    I took another one.

Brian's Sniper 45 with Castle 2028. Running just a little too loose for today's conditions. His trimming the rudder bottom did improve it's cornering though.

I really thought I had this round of Limited Spec Hydro sewn up until the heavy winds pushed me inside one of the buoys and cost me a lap. Chris' old stealth runs really good.

A really short round of LSO. Only two starters and didn't take long to narrow the field to one for another last man standing win.

Here's the 1st attempt on my Cheetah twin. Looks like it should be on a farm with the way it was plowing.

2nd attempt on the Cheetah after raising the stinger to the top of their adjustment and putting 1.5 oz. of ballast in the tail.
    Still no love.

Took a break from the Cheetah to run the Falcon cat. After today I'm about ready to pull the Hydra Ice 200 and replace it with a Swordfish. Don't know exactly what's going on but got really aggravated with it just shutting itself down for no apparent reason.

In an act of desperation switched the rotation of the props on the Cheetah from spinning in to spinning out in hopes of it pulling the tail down and nose up. It worked but it really looked faster than what the GPS said it was.

On last short run on the Cheetah. VERY short due to a broken stub.
