    Interesting! great find
Do you think a 4092 1390kv would be ok to use with a 6s setup in a FC 32" River Cat
would it give me considerable more power than a 4074 1400kv
It says it pulls 120A at 25v so would an etti 150A hold up or would that be on the border line to

might have to get a T180or one of Bens 300A ESCS
what size prop do you think would be suitable x447? and any one guess what kind of speed if set up right

    Cool

It is a common misconception that the "amp rating" a manufacturer gives for his motor is the actual amp draw. It is not. The rating is usually the maximum amperage the motor maker thinks is safe. The Leopard motor above can be propped to draw 300 amps if the packs will deliver it. Prop size, boat size, and boat trim all effect the amp draw of a motor.

Since no one has a 4092 motor, no one can comment yet other than guessing. If it is like the Leopards I've worked with it will safely handle 120 amps although it will probably get hot. It 'should' spin a larger prop than the 4074 will, but since power is directly related to amp draw, I doubt that you'd see much difference with your ESC. The 32" cats do not like props much over 50 mm in diameter so the ability to spin a larger prop is not really an advantage. If you used the x447 prop with good cells in a well setup 4074-powered cat you are looking at speeds in the low 50s.

    understood!
I would expect this is were data logger comes in useful. take away any guess work of amp draw and prop sizing

I think there's something wrong specification ,maximum speed just 35k only ? max amps and the max volt just like 3000w motor .how to output 4200w ?

i beleve the max volt and max amp are max continuous amp and volts and the max watt is burst. atleast that is how leopard normaly post its motors.
like this 4074 here on OSE "Watts: 1500 with Over 2000 Burst." ( http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...o-4074&cat=148 )

Thank you! I only found the Astec link earlier and wasn't sure if they were making them in the 1800kV range.

I'm looking at this one (http://www.helipal.com/leopard-lbp40...26lcva4d6s7154) for my Daytona for a 5s1p setup. Batteries would be 2 and 3s in series, 5000mah 40C and 80C burst. Not being the foremost expert on this stuff yet, does this sound like a good setup? Or will the 4082 1600 Kv 2Y on 5s be plenty?

    I currently run a Leo 4074 2200kV on 4s (2s in series 5000mah 40C and 80C burst). I don't race, just for sport.

Not sure the 4092 will give you much of a noticable increase in speed when you're going so fast anyways.............

You can spin a bit more prop with the 4092 but then you get into the torque roll issue..............I'd run the 4082, but then again more power is always fun, and a new motor offering is always cool to have as well.

The 4082 and 4092 are the same price too. Shipping might be more though (coming from Hong Kong). Any idea if OSE will be getting these in?

It would be nice if they offered a 1500-1600kv in the 92mm version.

I saw that one, but the kv is too low for what I want. I have an '82 1600kv that rocks on 6s in a DF33 turning an aggressive prop. Might not be an advantage to the longer can with the same kv, but id try it.
