Default Need to Shorten Motor Shaft

    Hey Guys,

I know lot of you guys have had to shorten a motor shaft. I am new to FE Boats and I need to knock off about 4 mm length of the shaft off a leopard motor so I dont have to replace the existing motor mount. What is the best way to shorten it? I have mostly common tools and first comes to mind is the hacksaw, a grinder, a sawsall ,various metal files and a Dremel tool.

First I cut a tiny hole in a rag. Then force the shaft threw it and cover the motor, this keeps the metal dust from getting in. Then use a cutoff disk on my dremal tool to cut the desired length.

Thanks Steven. I had already used some black electrical tape to seal up the vent holes but the rag idea is even better. Using both cant hurt.
