You lads crack me up and laughter and good music are a good source to solve any mental/depression problems and playing with toy boats is probably the best remedy.

Lads??? I'll have you know that some of us lads here at OSE are on the back backside of 50, and 60 years old, and we remember real music. There is no need for, "mental/depression problems". for we have your back, and we will watch over you. To prove it, I'm gonna round up the lads right now. Ummm, well now, this is embarrassing, I could only round up 4 lads, now I'm depressed. But hey, we're still watching over you Douggie; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOSIu6dIoAk&NR=1

Music is a personal choice. I am 63 and love all types of music at different times. I do not like it all some just sucks to me and that is by the same artist that I like so much. I think you are all right in some ways!

My anthem, I had this played at my FIRST marriage on a fantastic church organ. A pity there are no 16 vestal virgins to be found today.

Another Douggie rant, I am fed up with crappy music reproduction on I Phones and other modes....walking down the street and looking at the youth of today with cell phones and white earphones ticks me off and not looking into your eyes ...yes you can have your Gagga and Bieber treats, but to me they are rubbish, as they have no musical talent.....Winehouse did have a voice but as many talented singers have she passed away at a very early age

We sat down and listened to the music. The nuances of a performance. And if lucky, the high fidelity of a good system. We listened with friends and family. Now days, we are constantly on the go. We multi-task our lives. Music has become a source of back ground entertainment. And as such, the quality of the performance and of the music has suffered. In addition, we are bombarded with deceptive marketing. Equipment being sold as hi-fi just because of thunderous bass and treble that will singe your eyebrows. Artists now rely heavily on software rather than band mates. So you are not alone in your observations. These topics are often brought up on audio forums as well.
I couldn't agree more...I built my own "stereo" when stereo came out because they were too expensive...loved to "improve" my system every chance I got to get the most out of those "records"...it's too easy now to just crank up the bass and not hear anything at all...

I just built some speakers that I enjoy very much. I compared them to some Sonus Faber Liuto's. Yes the Luito's had more bass. They are very fine speakers. I think mine were almost equally clear. But the difference is I spent maybe $200.00 dollars in parts and the Luito's cost $5200.00 a pair! To get the added bass, I use a sub. That being said, With music and the equipment being used, It has become more important in the marketing and less important in the quality of the music or the equipment. The DIY community is starting to grow because people are getting tired of spending their hard earned cash on inferior products. If only we could DIY Britney or Lady GaGa?

Intresting, as my audio system has no tone controls...you get what you get....Dom good on you mate as Sonus make really good speakers, just remember it takes about a month to break in new speakers and I also have subsituted new drivers for my surround tv system but my audio system for serious listening has not changed apart from new components such as two Snell speakers, Rega cd player, amp and serious mods to my record player.....the Odyssey amps are a bargain and are only available on the internet and they are fantastic when they break in. Please note I have two different systems for audio and video.

Back to you Dom, how are you doing mate?

This song has a special meaning for me. I was on holiday in Spain with a mate when I was 18 years old and bumpted into 2 Yanks and we became instant friends. One of them had a portable record player and played this album I was gobsmacked and on my return to Scotland I had to special order this album.....here is a cut from it

And here are a few lads having fun and the lad on the drums is??? I know do you?

    No mistakin' that mug! Watts!
    All hail Jeff Beck!
Page and Zeppelin were nothing but a thieves! Too bad some of those old blues men were in no position to sue for copyright infringement!
SRV was one of the only white blues players I really liked. One of the very few white guys who had "it" as far as the blues go. Life By The Drop is a great acoustic tune!
Made the mistake of playing with Clapton though, should have know better! His heli went down right after playing. I almost believe the curse of Clapton really exists.

I love the authentic blues, a mate of mine has hosted a blues radio show for over 20 years in Vancouver, he also has sponsered many blues bands to play at the Yale pub in Vancouver and I have had the privelege to meet many of these now old stars.......the mate is Ron Simmons and boy does he know the blues.....he has well over 2000 blues albums and I kid you not.

I am a little late to this party, but I am a music lover!!! I really enjoy learning about new (meaning- new to me) songs/albums. Some are older songs that I’ve never hear and some are newer bands that I am just now discovering…

I have recently fallen head over heels for this band www.wilcoworld.net. For some reason they connect with me very well. They recently did a “NPR Tiny Desk Concert” in support of their recently released album. This is the title track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mYg7lyTCS0

This is the entire NPR show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZAKTCeE70Y

I have recently ventured into the DIY speaker world too. I am only at the entry level for now. Actually I bought a kit that had everything included (well worth the price)…
