If your starting and on a budget get some 4s 5300 30c gens ace packs from hobbypartz.com if you got money to burn buy some Thunder power 45 or 65c's or some Hyperions. Any of these packs will likely outperform the overpriced maxamps packs.

Yes they will fit fine my Thunder Power 4s 45c 5000's are a little tight in the impulse or were... I've sold the 45c's and got some 65c's coming in. I also bought some gens ace packs which seem really nice to replace my turnigy 4s fun packs and they are narrower as well so fit good in the impulse, they are taller though.

I've not ran the impulse yet but I've run the motor and esc from it in a few boats sized similar. If you buy good quality packs and use them with the stock motor and esc in the impulse you shouldn't notice much difference going from say some 30c to 45 or 65c batteries. If you got a real hot high amp setup then you would.

Turnigy nano techs 2x 2s packs will be fine I'm not sure why everyone want's to run 4s2p on the stock setup because it's not necessary. Stick 2 decent (nano's are decent) 2s 5000 packs in the boat and go have some fun.
