Default Virgin Impulse 31 Run tonight

Well I'm a nitro buggy racer trying out boats. First run tonight on two 2S 5000mah packs. I was disappointed in the speed but pleased with the handling so I invited a friend to bring two 4s 4500mah packs. Man! This thing opened up. The Turnigy packs barely fit but they fit.

The boat is leaking somewhere though. The motor started to cut out intermittently and I had to call it quits. How will I find where it's leaking? I'm thinking one of the water hoses is leaking but how will I check it? I can't wait to try the 2x4S again but not until I figure out where this water is coming from. It runs fine on shore but put in the water and it starts cutting out. Servo still works so I know it's a motor problem not a power issue.

By the way. I'm going to buy two 4S 5000 but what C rating should I get?

Check out my posts it shows where it was leaking from on my boat. If you didn't tape the hatch down it's probably coming in from the hole in there back where the cowl lock locks into the hull and up front where the cowl slides in. It also leaked where the cooling line goes through the transom because the silicone hose was to small to seal up the hole. If you were running 8s be prepared to buy some new electronics soon! Post some pics!

I was at first running side by side like the manual says and it was slow so I borrowed two 4S and man! It ripped but I only got to run it about 1.5min before it started cutting in and out. I'm going to try again and will post a video!

Anything less than 8S total is too slow. What upgrades should I do to handle the 8S?

8S and 1.5 minutes means that you can throw away your controller and motor as they are probably both FUBAR'd. You would need something in the 900Kv range for a motor and a high voltage controller.

I thought the stock motor was already 1900 KV?

Can you recommend what motor and controller to run on 8S?

The stock motor is 1800kv he is saying you need a 900kv you went from 26,640 rpm to 53,280 rpm if your a buggy racer that is like a runaway you just know its blown

That boat probably cant handle 8s,nor do you need it for speed. Use a 1500/1600kv motor on 6s and you ll be high 50's/low 60's.

The boat comes setup for parallel not series correct. The ESC has hot a Y coming off and I connected two 4S in Parallel. Sounds like I need two 3S in parallel and I'll be good.

It's setup to run in series. With two 3s in series you'll burn it up more likely than not as well.

If you plugged in two 4s packs to that y connection coming off the esc you ran 8s. Say bye bye to your esc/ motor cause they're now junk

I think this controler can take 6s with an external bec but I don't think for long
5s and it will run awesome!
but setup right on 4s using the right prop and it will move our real well!
