I just use a plastic valve stem cap off some old car tires we had around
With the shrink wrap on the 5.5 female end made them the right size to twist on
i went to the auto parts store and bault a little asortment of vacum caps cheap!!!
I got a flexible vinyl cap from McMastercarr that stretches

I have never had a 5.5 connector short out. Even using stainless steel tables as work benches. I just leave the heat shrink on the positive lead, female connector, a bit longer than necessary. No sparks yet.
yet another great idia man you guys are full of them
I use heatshrink, put a 1/2" over the connector, with a 1/4" sticking out, add heat, squeeze the part that is sticking out (with caution since it's hot) and you're done...
