Default Idea - HK buddy code thingie

Over on RC groups they have topics about the HK buddy code thing, for people to post their links. However, it's all useless plane stuff, lol. How about we get one going on here? Plenty of users on here shop at HK, and we're actually buying boat related parts.

    just a thought.

Not totally sure, just know that it's a way to get things a little cheaper, and I think if people use your link to the cheaper part, they get a discount, and you also get a credit. I'm by no means an expert on how it works, just know it's out there, and there's a way to save and make money.

this is what I got from a chat session with a HK rep....

Ivy: you will first need to purchase the item in one of your order first
Ivy: after you had successfully place an order, when you select the item again, there will be a code given to you
Ivy: you can copy the code given to your friend but please note that the code will only last for 14 days

Anyone placed an order recently that can check it out? In 'my account' when you click on your past orders, if you select one of the orders, it will show status and all that junk, there's apparently a buddy code icon or something like that, and it will give you links. The way it works is, you will get a certain $$ refund (I guess as credit for next order), plus your buddy that uses the code will get it at the discount price, plus you get a credit because your buddy used your code.

Anyone order a t120 or t180 recently? If so, can you post the buddy code?

I did, where do you find the buddy code?
I think it was more than 14 days, does it vanish afterwards?

Ya I think it's only good for the 14 days. Like you said, you click on that buddy icon, and it will give you the link people use to buy the item. If that icon is not there, then it's probably expired. I don't think too many people check this section. Wonder if this would be better off in a more visited section of the forum. I know SOMEONE has purchased a t180 or t120 in the last couple of days.

All I saw was a section where you could send an email to someone with the info for the deal, not a link to post. Can someone clarify? I purchased several things and would like to post links to them all if possible.

    - Buy the items you want or need
    - After your order is complete you go to your account page (see 'View my account' image on main page of Hobbyking.com) and click on the link where you can check your orders
    - As long as your order has the status processing and is not older than 14 days, you will see a blue buddy icon behind the status of each product you bought (Please note: not all products are eligable)
    - Click the blue buddy icon and you will be presented a, so called, 'buddy code' that you can share with your 'buddies'.
    - If one or more of your buddies buy the same item and use the same buddy code, they will get an instant rebate of a certain percentage for that product with that order and you are refunded in the form of store credit. This credit can be used with your next order.
    - It is important to know that if you want to make use of someone elses Buddy Codes, then you have to log in to the Hobbyking website first.

Thanks Boaterguy, this is what people need, the links (buddy codes), not the brainstorming :) (joke intended)
Steve should make this sticky and we could all just drop in our buddy codes (and a brief description of the corresponding product) here after we've placed an order.
Everyone would know when the buddycodes expire from the post date +14 days. Very simple it I think, and everyone wins.

Does it only work once? or if multiple people buy it do you keep getting credit?

You (the initial buyer) get the discount once (the first time someone uses your buddy code), but several people "buddies" can use the code and they all get the discount too. Only the two weeks time limits the buddy code. It expires and that's it.

I noticed HK has a price match too, let's open a store with all of their stuff really cheap and always be "out of stock"
lol, that would be fun, make them bankrupt by buying insanely expensive stuff for a few bucks, then get 100$ of store credit.

Being a big plane guy, I've been working the system as best I can to get buddycodes on most of the stuff I buy. Using this website I found to get buddycode deals seems to be the best bet: http://hk.rc-international.info/swarm

You have to make sure you're logged into hobbyking first, but you just search for whatever you're planning to buy and if it comes up in the list, click the item and it'll bring the hobbyking item page up with the reduced price listed. Add to cart for the deal.
The item price will have a "*" next to it to show it's the buddycode price & not regular price.
Not all of the links work everytime, but it doesn't hurt to search for each item that's already in your shopping cart to see if someone's posted a recent buddycode for it.

Also a note on buddycodes i figured out - you usually can't get more than 3 of a single item at the buddy price, so don't use it if you need 8 packs of battery connectors or something. It can be a pain in the butt to get the buddycode price item out of your cart sometimes so that you can get more than 3 of that item.

Hope this helps some of you, cheers!

Thanks for the link! I just placed an order with HK and got one new buddycode, I posted it on the site you liked above.
It's good that you can not only find the codes, but you can also share your own ones.
Poeple should bookmark the link and use them often.

You bet! It's saved me quite a bit over several orders, I'm surprised it's not more widely known yet.

I'm excited to finally see the Turnigy (Seaking) 35a marine speed control for $24.24 with a buddy code right now too:
