Default 2 New Heat Racing records set at District 8 Race - May 28, 2011

District 8 held a race at Lake Waughop this past weekend, and for this race, they setup a fully measured, legal 1/6th mile course and had official timing setup.

SO... as a result, our P-Limited Hydro and P-Limited OPC races this weekend were able to establish new heat racing records for you guys to target.

For P-Limited Hydro, the record has been established by me with a 1:22.11, running a Raptor Hydro, H10 Prop, and UL1 motor, on a Castle Barracuda 125 ESC. Should be at least another 6-seconds or so in that record for someone to chew away.

Brian actually broke the existing P-OPC record with his Top Speed 3 P-Limited boat. Old record was 1:52.xx, his new record is 1:46.xx. Should be more in that one as well. Conditions weren't ideal, but that's where we got.

I tried to better the P-Limited Hydro record in the 3rd heat, but ended up touching a buoy exiting 2 (had to pinch down tight to avoid a dead boat), which broke the booms on the boat and I couldn't get it fixed for heat 4. Had a different prop that added about 5mph to the boat and it was rippin! We'll get her fixed up and give it another go another time.

So, there you go guys... Go for it!!

Pretty simple... The CD and several other club members looked at the boats immediately after the runs, verified the motors, and signed the sheets, just like with any other classes.

Since both motors were UL-1 motors, and two of the AQ guys were on-site (Jerry Dunlap and Brian Buaas), it was pretty easy to verify the motors.

    Doug,
Are you questioning the motors legality or the inspections themselves?

Mine was a brand new UL-1 motor. Got it from Steven a couple weeks ago when he still had them in stock. Pulled it out of the box, changed the bullets and bolted it on the lower unit Friday night.

I gave my old power system to my buddies daughter for her tunnel. Kid's gonna be hard to beat in another year or two.

Darin seems like a very stand up person. I wouldn't ever believe he would cheat to set a record.

    I appreciate that, Steven.

Anyone who knows me or has been to one of these events knows better. I'm the guy who shows up with the rulebook in hand, and lays all his equipment out there for anyone to inspect or see.

If you think that there is cheating happening, you can always just step up and say so. I'll be happy to give you the motor in trade for a new one. This one is about worn out anyhow, having been in the boat for well over a year now. It's NOT the motor, guys... it's the wheel hanging off the end of it, and the setups that make things fast... and having access to the guy that designed the boat doesn't hurt either! (Thanks Brian... )

No fellas I'm not making any accusations at all.
I was under the impression that there was a rock solid plan in place to tech these motors that's all. I've been waiting to see what that intailed.

    Never mind and again, congratulations.
I apologize if I stepped on any toes, that was certainly NOT my intention.

I was assuming this was referencing back to the topic on the Namba Rules Changes thread. I had an idea this stuff was going to cause some black and blues. But I'm sure it will all work itself out.

I'm not worried about it, Steven and Doug... I didn't take your response in any negative way. I understand where you are all coming from.

I was told in my previous responses to the rule changes concerning teching these things "who cares", and was called all kinds of negative things. I'm assuming I get to run under the same rules as everyone else, T-Shirt and Hat or not...

Qualified personel were on hand. The race was santioned by NAMBA. The course was a legit, measured 1/6th mile course. The timing was electronic and approved. The race heats were legal race heats with all legal boats. The tech inspections were done by qualified personel to the letter of the rules as published.

I'm not sure what more people would expect us to do.

Honestly, if setting records isn't that big of a deal, there shouldn't be any issue at all with this. Right?

You still have the P-OPC record. I went after the P-limited OPC record.

    LOL.... I couldn't resist Brian!

That is going to look a little funny now; the P-Limited OPC record is better than the actual P-OPC record by 6 seconds. That is an eternity!!!

Either way, I am just messing with you guys! I think everyone could use some light hearted banter every once in awhile!

    See ya,
    Mike

    That's true...

BUT, the P-Limited OPC is FASTER than the P-OPC now...

Something tells me NOT for long...

Steven you are correct, my question was motivated by that thread. I only have a genuine curiosity as to how this inspection was executed. I understand that the SPEC or Limited regulations topic always seems to generate sesative opinions, but in no way was I trying to imply that anyone was cheating. I only wanted to know what verification process was in place.

Geez - just got back from fishing and seen this.

Well - being it was YOU that brought into question the new rules and subsequently the need to revise them again to address the teching of the motors, I guess we all were expecting the tech system to be in place before you would be bragging about collecting records.

I and many others are very happy you have achieved this little "toy boat"accomplishment.

WOW - this sponsored "integrity" is flowing all over the place.

Going fishing again now! Keep up the good work!
