    Default EKOS with outrunners TINY?

I ordered an EKOS and it showed the green motors, which the 9xl feigao's directly drop into the mounts. The boat has the new outrunners and it doesn't look like the 9xl's will fit in the mounts. Do I have to replace the mounts?

They should fit as long as the mounts have 19mm hole spacing for the bolts.

I guess I jumped the gun. The outrunners looked crazy small. They are 380, like the 9xl's. The mounts are around-the-can, not bolted on the ends. If the feigao's work its a great change, much easier motor change out. If you've done an EKOS or Dragon hull, changing the motors is murder. Im worried the around-the-can mount won't support such a long motor.

    Hi,

Venom specs the V380 out-runner @ 27.8mm. The Fegaio 380-9XL motor diameter is 28mm. Skullcracken and Venom support confirm that the EKOS out-runner motor clamp will secure Fegaio 380-9XL motors.

Changing the motors in old ekos or dragon hull isn't that bad. If you get bolt loose or even to get it started put a piece of fuel tubing over the head of the bolt and you can work it easier.

Noticed your post a little late. The Feigao can diameter is very slightly smaller. Must be fractions of a millimeter. I had two older Feigao's and one tightened down snug and the other bobbled slightly even though it was tightened down all the way. I bought two new ones (fried one of the last pair) and both bobbled a little. I put two sided tape around the can where the mount held it and it was locked down snug. Worked fine.

I replaced a broken, older, in-runner mount with the newer out-runner mount and a Fegaio 380-9XL seems quite secure. Now waiting for Horizon to repair/replace a defective MR3000 receiver, then I'll take the EKOS out for water trials.

The Fegaio 380-9XL in the starboard, out-runner motor mount worked great, many, many runs this year.
Just fried the port-side, Fegaio. Bearings disintigrated, broke the motor mount (older in-runner), ...
I'll install another Venom out-runner mount on the port-side and go with a pair of ARC 28-47-1.5 motors, which are also, 28mm diameter.
