    Default New Boat and Member

I wanna Introduce myself to this site and thank everyone for all the great info I have read so far...

I Just received a Brand New KOS P1 with the 2.4 radio

First Impressions were Great I really like the look of this boat.... I thought it would be bigger than my Villian IV but oh well... It is Longer but is seems way smaller especially on the water...

I Drove the boat yesterday (Maiden Voyage) My first mod was adding a Traxxas connector( all my RCs and Hyperion Duo 3 use traxxas connectors...)

No lipo yet so I removed the LVC and used a Max Amps 10.8V NIMH for the first run....

Ok wow talking about cavitation once it gets on planes it moves really well but as soon as you slow down and turn then ease into the throttle it really bogs out almost sounds like its spinning and not turning the prop???? as soon as Im straight and give it throttle it sounds like its working hard and then seems to kick in kinda like a badly slipping clutch.... (Im new to this Flex shaft thing as well)

I almost feel like its slower than my Villian running 18 tooth pinion 28 tooth drive gear on 16.v NIMH....

I have a set of 3s Lipos but I run them in pairs on my Revo and brushless gt2 and 6s would probably blow this boat up

I need a real prop for this thing can someone get me the direct link of the best upgraded prop that would fit the boat with no modifications I plan on running the 9cell NIMH till I get a single 4s Hyperion Lipo

any comments and help would be greatly appreciated

    Here are a few pics

Get an Octura x640 and run on 4s lipo, you'll hit the 40s no problem. Have fun and welcome to the boards. Where do you boat?

Im gonna order the X640 but its out of stock on OSE.... they have the not sharpened and unbalanced one in stock but I dont have a balance tool or know how to sharpen a prop yet...

I have a large pond by me that I run the boat in but Im looking for some better spots( My neighbors are complaining... long story.... The Sound is my next option but I dont wanna ruin this boat with the salt water...

I boat in central jersey, mercer county. Lots of good ponds to run in. Are you on the north shore of LI? I used to live there, there are a couple of places to go run.

    Default first Running Vid

Here is my first clip of the P1 all stock I made a series connector and am running 2- 8.4 V NIMH - 16.8 total .... not to shabby still takes a bit to get on plane but kinda rips... I have a venom 36mm red anodized prop on its way so maybe the metal one will help ... still waiting for the x640 to be in stock on OSE...

BTW Venom has great customer service They took care of the few defective parts !! VENOM customer service

click on the pic for vid...

My first boat also, running 2-2s Hyperion 4200 lipo and the aluminum 1.4x32x3 prop. The bay was calm yesterday, first time I culd run wide open. Had the gps in it and it maxed out at 35mph, about 12 minutes of run time mostly wide open, I will try the x640 and see what happens. As far as cornering I found do not drop the speed to low, keep the rpms up and the cavitation is minimal. The outrunner motor sounds cool, not like any of the other boats around here. BEWARE, I have had a problem with my decals and gel coat pulling off when I use the tape provided with the boat.

get some lipos, i hesitated for a while but you can pick them up for just as much as the nimh's these days plus a turnigy accucel 6 charger is peanuts, i bet you will see a difference in performace too.
