    Default Opinions please

I recently purchased an Aquacraft Top Speed 2 boat package that included a radio and K&B 3.5cc outboard. The package was listed as 'almost new' but when it arrived it looked more used than anything. Here are some pics. What do you guys think?

The radio gear is a mixed bag of brands. The motor install is horrible and he wasn't able to even drill the four holes accurately. The front ride pads are missing, ruined servo and battery connectors (because they don't fit into the JR receiver), mold in the radio box, rust throughout the motor, scored piston and blackened sleeve makes me think the motor may have been seized, and the list goes on.

Can you return it? The motor at least needs a complete re-build,
The hole in the hull are an easy fix but if you bought it as almost new....
He must not have used any after run oil in it for it to have rusted like that.
    Thats really too bad.
Lodge a complaint or whatever asap! Did you buy that from the swap shop here?
Did you paypal? depending how you paid you do have some recourse, I think that doesn't apply if you sent money as a gift though.
Always nervous buying second hand sight unseen. I've had very good luck with the people here though.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

The engine looks like it has seen some action . Unless it has been run very rich . Are the bearings ok ? That might tell you if nearly new . Contact the seller asap and just express your concerns . Most people are reasonable . Cost up the bits you MUST replace to get the deal to "as described" and ask for them to bust up the difference with you , if they won't to that it's not unreasonable to ask for a refund . (you"ll pay the postage I expect ) .
Hope it works out , don't take it to seriously this kind of stuff can get to you .

rust is common in a nitro motor that was not cared for after last run....they need after run oil if u are going to sit them up for a long time......nitro fuel will make em rust...the rest is not all that great either lol.....strip it out and start over with a decent radio and motor is what id do.....

The seller claims to have run a half jug through the motor two years ago and it's been sitting ever since. I used to run these motors in IMPBA District 1 ages ago and I know how quickly rust starts. I would always flush my motor at the pond with lots of WD40 and once home I was in the habit of removing and completely tearing down and cleaning my motors followed by liberal amounts of after run oil. Clearly this guy had no clue and did noting. The bearings in the PTO are scrap and those are a PITA to replace. The main bearings are also done and there's even rust inside the aluminum crank case.

I asked him for a partial refund so I could afford to try to fix things but he refused. Instead, he offered a full refund, but has since changed his mind. I have a complaint with PayPal, but I doubt anything will happen to resolve this matter in my favor. Looks like I'm SOL

I'm in Ottawa and was a member of the OVR for over 15 years and was the webmaster for a few years. I quit racing when club membership dropped to about guys and went car racing with my three sons. I'm still doing cars, but wanted to try boats again as the club seems to have ben revived.
