    Default Turnigy 180A problems

    Hi people.

I have purchased a Leopard 4082 a couple of months ago among with a Turnigy Marine 180A. I connected and configured with no problem at all. Now I have ran the combo for twice no more than 1 minute each run, cause i had a problem every time, and the ESC is no working any more. I dont know what is but I get the ready signal but no throttle at all. I believe problem is the BEC. I was running it with 6S lipo.
Can you tell me whats the best option to buy for this leopard motor? Is ESC Swordfish 200 amp water cooled going to work well with it? Is there another option?
Last concern, do I have to remove the red wire for BEC on Swordfish and connect the ESC to an external battery pack to avoid a future issue as turnigy issue?

    Thanks in advance

Do you have an external BEC you can try with the Turnigy? If the controller has a built in BEC then yes you need to somehow disconnect the red lead, a short jumper with the red removed is the best since it leaves the original wiring intact.

or instead of an external bec, using a 6v pack to power the rx will work as well..............

Yes, BEC is built in the ESC.
Problem is ESC powers on but i have no response when pushing trottle. I have tried several rx with the same result, motor does not spin.

    Thx

What mah and C rating are your lipos???

It may be going into LVC..............happens a bunch without strong batts.........

Scarabchris and myself went to 2p on larger motors and it fixed it for each of us............or get some 40c 5000+ batts.

I started running on 2X 11.1 3000mah 30C and had the problem. Then changed to 2X 11.1 5000mah 30C and same problem as well. Weird thing is boat went like it was on low voltage; ran like slow motion and i could stop it. Did not respond to throttle. always running at lowest speed without response.
Suposing builtin BEC is fried, if I connect an external BEC, ESC would work or not any more?
    Thank you

Yep. Everybody says to NOT use BEC on 6S with almost any ESC. Controller is probably still OK if you use external battery.

Agreed with all. Disconnecting the bec on higher then 4s is a must. The seakings have had bec issues before at the higher voltage. Also make sure you are NOT using the lvc *auto* detect function. The lvc can prematurely can in with the auto cell count function.

if the built in bec is fried i dont believe the steering servo would even function, just plug a 6v pack in to the top channel and see what happens, should work if its just the bec.
