    Default castle hydra ice 240

had my first run with the new hydra ice 240 and that ESC and me are going to be gooooooood friends.
a little pussled over the rpm messuring though. it shows that i had rpm`s around 40-50k all the time with a max of 60 764rpm. and this out of a leopard 2000 kv motor on 4S2p that should have unloaded 33 600 rpm.

that beeing saied. it was well worth the wait

Good to hear. Did you set the number of motor poles in the software to 4?

In Castle Data log go to the Edit menu and there is an option to change the pole count.

Should have mine hopefully tomorrow or the next. Great info on the number of poles. I would have surely messed that up as well.

    Cool

If you are using the ICE on different pole motors, the software in your computer will remember the last number of poles you set. That means you may have to change the pole count in the software every time you use an ICE on a motor with a different pole count. Not a big deal and easy to do, you just have to know about it.

Not sure about using any radio. Stick transmitters and pistol transmitters have different throttle ranges (milliseconds) That is why some esc's require the use of a Pistix. Not sure about the castle ICE.

Thanks for sharing! Is there a summary for each variable somewhere? Like avg amps etc? Can you choose to display certain things instead of all at one time?

Yes, it is on the bottom of the log page below the chart. However when I save the file as an image it cuts off the lower table. But yes, it shows the average, max and min for each stored variable.

    Just got mine today!

Normally on setups higher then 4s I run a rx pack. But with this esc I see that I can adjust the bec voltage where I like it. My question is has anyone run this esc on 6s with the bec? Just curious.

Yes, I ran mine on 8S with the BEC. No problems even using a 400 oz-in digital servo on steering however I did not get enough testing time on it to really make a definitive statement.

I am about to install two of these in my 54" Fountain. Looking forwardt o all the features like data logging and reverse. I also like the way you can program the amount of reverse to give it.

Then again my Spektrum radio dose the same thing.

Has anyone run one and compared the results to the results from an Eagle tree to see how they compare for the same boat/setup? I'm curious to see how OR if the results differ greatly. Also, any word on if CC plans to offer a GPS add-on in the future for getting speed readings?

    Cool

I have run the ICE100 on 6S extensively without problems, haven't tried 8S.

Comparing the ICE to the Eagletree should give different results, as I understand it the amp draw the ICE displays is calculated rather than measured directly. The differences should be slight, but I'd be surprised if the two devices gave identical results.

From what I understand of the units, Castle is measuring the voltage drop across the FETS and knowing their resistance calculating the current. I noticed in my testing that the amp draw was a little on the high side compared to a eagle tree with the current loop measurement.

GREAT... I will give it a try my servo is only 180oz torque digital. My castle 6.5mm bullets don't look like they will fit he 8 gauge wire easily. I may bump up to 8mm on the motor/esc and just keep the batt side 5.5mm. My 5.5mm are half shell so the 8 gauge won't be a issue on those. Any comments.

This new esc is rather large. Plan your next build carefully around it.
