    Default ugly tfl prop

i ordered one of these from HK on my last order and its a ugly beast but was very surprised when i put it on my Apparition cc1515, etti 150 5s it sounded a little differant than my x442 but a noticable increase in speed, anybody else had luck with these?

I ran the 42mm one in my Pursuit with a FSD (I think) 2075Kv motor and a Suppo 125A ESC (the electronics that came with the Genesis).

It ran very nicely while drawing 80A max on my EagleTree logger, also the boat was running wet and I'm sure I it will much better once I figure out the setup.

It was slightly out of balance but it didn't take much work to fix it, just 5 minutes.

    Verdict: I like it!

Well the Pursuit is a DF33 clone if I'm not mistaken... So I would say go for it?

Temps were also fine, but the water was really cold, so that might have helped.

As soon as I switched to a X642 I got more speed but also melt the soldering around the motor bullets. The logger showed spikes of 135 Amps with that prop.

I've used one of these too & like it a lot.
I wanted to run my little Red Devil (25" mono) as a 6 minute heat boat like they do in Europe & Hong Kong.
    Motor was a Typhoon 500 1800kv Heli outrunner motor. 0n a 4s 5000mah 40c pack.
Other props that had any good speed would murder the battery before the 6 minutes were up. X535, X437, X440, Graupner K40 Grim 40mm x 52mm 3 blade.
So I tried this one & it was just as fast with more revs & less amp draw. Max amps on a 6 minute run was 47A. Left about 10-13 percent in the pack.
Surprised the hell out of me
Here's a bit of a vid with it doing 3 of the longer laps & 3 of the 30 meter triangle laps.
In 6 minutes it would do 31 of the longer oval laps or 39 of the triangle laps.

    Great fun.

Wow, nice post & thread. I might get another one since I butchered the first trying to cup it back where I felt it should be.

I was told that it is meant for very high revving electric, in chinglish that is...

Might be worth a try Ray.
You are right though. They are for higher revving motors.
Steve sells them here. I would like to try the 42mm one on a 7Xl in something, And the 47mm one on the 8Xl in the same boat to see the comparison in speed & amp draw. I guess my old Arowana hull is the best candidate for that little experiment.
It only took about half an hour to sharpen & balance the one I got as it was pretty close to start with. As GP73 also found.
    Cheers.

There is an inexpensive cnc prop about 42mm from China (TFL). I think steve sells it too, I have one but, never had a use for it.

The 47mm Fugly prop is really thin!!! You might want to think about Heat treating it.

I've used a number of tfl props, some stock some I've modded. I really like them for the cost, they seem to come with a better balance than Octura, I've found I tend to need to remove less material to get them perfect on a magnetic balancer.
I think they are Chinese Octura knockoffs, I can't tell the difference between their 440 prop and an Octura x440.
I've used 38 to about 45 mm and one 440 three blade.
I'm using a highly modded 440 of theirs on my JAE 12, it hauls!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Strange thrust cone... Is that a surface or submerged?

Definitely surface Boaterguy. Why do you think it looks strange?
Looks just fine to me. Long & low with a narrow thrust cone. Means energy is not being wasted underwater by being thrown out wide off the edges of the blades, but is being thrown back producing forward momentum.
at least, that's the way I look at it.
    Cheers.

it may be my computer, or my computer maybe playing back too slow, it just looks like it goes about 45* upwards, the just stops and turs straight back about 1' in the air.

Stupid question but I was wondering if you think this may work good on the Motley Crew?
Running 4s 40c 5000mah with 1800kv motor. Also what size is it? I can't quite make it out in the picture.
    Thanks

The one in the picture is 48mm if I'm not mistaken.

I would try the 42mm first and the 48mm afterwards if the temps are ok.

I have to say that I like the 42mm better than the 48mm on my Pursuit mono.

I'm gonna throw in the 48mm when I order, I'll give a comment compared to the X447 when it arrives, fingers crossed!
