Well one I'm working on is the 17" mini hydro I have for play.
I'm just trying to figure out how to understand the motor specs then translate those to figure out the esc needed and batteries.

Also since you mentioned it how a hull effects the process.
Obviously a larger boat will need a larger motor that uses more power.

Really don't know where to start for any boat.
What are some baselines so I would know where to start atleast on any hull.

One motor I am looking at is

    The other one is

I am trying to figure out if a 35amp esc will be ok with the setups or should I go bigger.
I believe with the 3000kv I should be able to run a little larger prop correct??

    The 4800kv motor says 11volts???

The motor you are looking at is better with 2S or 7.4v, for a real giggle and a small prop you could go with 3S or 11.1v I have been known to run 5000kv on 3S Not advisable !
For a 17" hydro a 35A esc may be enough, I would run a 60A just to be safe but there are far better qualified hydro runners here than me. I am a Cat and rigger type
    See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

Thinking one of these motors will be a good choice possibly instead of the others

I would obviously need to jump the esc up to the 60amp
or I could even go up to the 90amp esc

    Thoughts?? 2-3S
