Default Ni-MH vs. LiPo setting from the factory

Ok, those of you in the know, please help clear this up:

In the instructions included with the boat AND the PDF found on the ProBoat site it clearly states

"Be sure to use a PRB3311 Programming module to adjust the cutoff voltage when
using Li-Po batteries to protect against over discharging the batteries.
    "

HOWEVER, on the Proboat website, in the "Tech and Spec" section, it states:

    Tech Notes

The 60-amp electronic speed control is factory set in Li-Po mode.

Which is it, is it set for LiPo OR is it set for Ni-MH

Do I need to get the programming module just to play it safe?

I was told by Horizon tech support on the phone that the ESC is programmed from the factory for LiPo's.
